I don’t like when cuffs make holes at the folds either. Do you cuffing ilk always get those splits? Or is there a way to negate that?

May end up cuffing the new BBs. Prefer no splits if poseeblay

In the easy chair with my boots on, melted whiskey in my hand. Could'na been asleep for more than three hours...time to go to work again...

@Mizmazzle maybe someone else can help me out with the terminology… is it a Tokyo cuff where you do the big cuff then cuff that for a double cuff?? Whatever that’s called, the extra fold seems to ease the wear for me

That also opens up a very cool change you can do with the length if you hem them to just the right spot. You can Tokyo cuff them (thanks goosehd) for a no break length for engineer boots or fold it back down to a regular like 2” single cuff for some stacks with Nikes. Doesn’t show any weird fade lines at either length! It’s like magic!!

@Memphisakers Any cuff over time will show wear and tear…I‘ve heard that uncuffing them fairly frequently and cleaning all of the dirt/crud out will slow the process down (some), but there is nothing that prevents it over the long course of time.

@goosehd I haven’t been around long enough to talk about long term… my oldest pair of jeans are a 3 or 4 year old pair of 555xhsib that have been Tokyo cuffed since day one. I will say that there is zero fraying or wear in any part of the cuff area. That is only 3 or 4 years of wear though, I have no idea what they will look like in 10 years. I do clean out the cuffs every once in a while and wash them at least a couple times a year.

@Memphisakers As far as I know and have experienced it really is the best practice. You’ll also get to a point when you don’t notice until you have a hole or two and then send them off for repair. The next level is when you don’t send them in and wear them until they are retired.

My personal favourites of the jean’s posted on here have all been worn hard, repaired many times, and worn until they are taken out of circulation 🙂

@goosehd I just sent those to be hemmed after wearing them Tokyo cuffed all this time. I hemmed them to have a 2” cuff and a little bit long for some stacking. My plan is to rock them like that until I get wear thru on the cuffs, then hem them again for no cuff (maybe even no break if I have to) and try to get three different looks/lengths for the same pair of jeans! I thought it was a solid plan. I have jeans both with and without cuffs, honestly like them just as much either way!!

Not sure if this is unusual... But my preference is a one inch (or something close to that) cuff. It's really just turned it over once so I can show off my selvedge ID without have large cuffs which look a little odd on me as I have short legs.

@Mr-Linz To me it looks like the format of the pictures from your computer are formatted incorrectly. When I looked at them they were different from your phone pictures. (To me it looks like your computer images are saved as HEIC)

How are your computer photographs saved? Am I seeing it correctly?

@goosehd Ahhh that might be it. I just airdropped them from my phone to my laptop and they must somehow change format during the drop. Not sure how to change that. A bit annoying, but explains the issue... I suppose email them to myself.

@Mr-Linz You should be able to resave them as .jpg to solve the issue.

I've gone through most cuff styles but always come back to the Tokyo cuff. I love the chunky weight it adds to the draping of the legs, but it's also the easiest way for me to just buy jeans and not worry hemming.

It varies though how thick I like the cuff. Here it is at a good 6.5 cm / 2.5 ″ - but I also like it at 5 cm / 2". It really makes a difference 😉
