just an update: ordered an L and the XL to compare. L is definitely the winner here for me – 180cm and 80kg, with an athletic build. XXL in my iron heart flannels (but could probably go down to an XL for a more tailored fit). regardless, thank for everyone's help

@akohut I would size up in that. The large in regular fits me spot on but the alpaca was too small in the chest due to the lining.

@Gavin666 yeah that was my thought too, but for this year's restock (which came out yesterday) they've made the shoulders and chest on the L a bit bigger, so should be perfect

weirdly the product page even recommends sizing down in the heavier weight riders jacket for a "snug fit" – but the M is even smaller than the regular riders jacket large. so i don't see how that is good advice...

@Gavin666 it definitely is! I love all three, the green gets the most wear at the moment but Tumbleweed is my favourite. Strangely Tumbleweed feels much more waxy. Has anyone tried to rewax?

The heavy waxed version of RJ-1 is out. Really considering it at the moment. Measurements say it's a bit shorter in my usual size too which would be great.
I always thought I'd go with the 20oz and now it's available.
I see many people with multiple different colour RJ-1s here but for me it still needs a bit of justifying. I am thinking that a good justification to get it is that it could be that being 20 oz and all it would get even more wear in the northern climate 😃 since the season for the 10oz on it's own is quite short.
Sometimes in northern europe its from shorts and t-shirt to a winter jacket in just a few weeks.

@Max-Power i've rewaxed my tumbleweed and black RJ1s with the original martexin wax. the tumbleweed darkened up a little bit but not too much.

i'll post up what my tumbleweed looks like right now later today.

it's pretty easy to wax a jacket. i definitely recommend a heat gun or hair dryer. i think i got a heat gun online for < $30. anyways, i apply liberally focusing on high wear areas and shoulders. heat it up and then move around the excess with an old credit card. let it cure in the sun if you can.

@Max-Power just look at the guide on filsons website (and use their wax, which I believe I saw freenote recommend for rewaxing as well — maybe on instagram?), almost impossible to mess it up
