Wow really? Awesome! Congrats! Give her some time, find the perfect coffee, play a bit with the coarseness and pre-infusion time… and then when you finally found your perfect adjustments you will love her...

I’d all but settled on Moccamaster, but having conferred with an industry friend (who also thinks highly of Moccamaster), I think I may be going for the Ratio Six. Pretty neat device that looks as close to impersonating a barista pour over as anything I’ve seen yet, does 40 oz, has a thermal carafe, and even looks almost as cool as a Moccamaster albeit with more of a sci fi aesthetic.
I didn’t know about this thing until last night but it looks pretty good for our needs.

@mclaincausey Can I ask why you want a thermal carafe vs. having a built in hot plate?

No chance of burnt coffee, no chance of the temperature going up, more portability so that my wife can take it into her office where she likes to stay cloistered during the workday, more energy efficient, and most importantly, no glass. We’re out a coffee maker already due to a shattered carafe and with a toddler, two dogs, and a tendency to be barefoot, I like to save glass for when it’s truly necessary.

Forgot a biggie–less oxidation since the carafe self-seals. I usually just have one large cup but wifey tends to sip throughout the morning.
Of course the cleaning is gonna be a pain but I have bottle brushes.

I have a moccamaster technivorm and i love it - however, i have one with a glass carafe and hot plate. If I ever were to buy again - I'd get thermal carafe and no hot plate for sure. Hope that helps sway you.
