Carhartt fans, have you seen the Imported From Detroit line.  Black (duck) on black (patch) on black (hardware), and all made in the US!  Prices are pretty awesome too:

Just did a quick calculation: all 3 jackets, a pair of double-front work pants, a work shirt, and a winter cap for just a touch over $400.  We need to make more stuff like this here in the states!

Has anyone any experience with the actual work gear Carhartt? I wanna get a chore coat for work. Based on the measurements they have given me I would need a size small. I can't get my head round it. For reference I am a L/XL in most of my iron heart gear.

My mate may know. Will ask. You should also consider the Le Laboreur moleskin chore jackets. I picked one up for sixty quid shipped from France

I don’t have a Carhartt chore coat, but their hoodies and other jackets are always huge. I think it’s intended for freedom of movement while working. That seems like a big difference, though.

The size small has a pit2pit of 23” and 19” shoulders!!

I'll echo sabergirl- their stuff is always really big. I think I have a jacket that's size Medium and it's big on me.  And I wear L/XL sized IH gear.

Thanks saber and Chris for confirming it’s always way over sized. I have ordered a small and will report back. I need some movement for work but the medium had just shy of a 50” chest lol

I'm mostly a large in IH UHF's and my medium chase sweater fits me pretty good, if that helps. i have a chase tee, also medium is the thing here for me. i could do a small but that will on the tight side. Can't compare to IH sweaters as i don't own one. But I'd be a medium in the IHTL-1301 too.

Thanks, @illo59 . I think my smartest move would be to find a way to try both a medium and a large. Too much conflicting information out there.
