You are right, it looks a little roomy around the belly, but the rest is fine with me. The L would be too tight around the chest after shrinkage. The fabric is nice too.

I just got this western and don't know if I should return and size down it, hot soak it to see if it shrinks a bit, or just wear it. Thoughts? (And apologies in advance for the horrible quality of the pictures)

I think it looks a little big. It looks like you have a lot of room to fill in that size and I don't think it will shrink enough. Depends how you want it to fit I guess. Mine didn't shrink that much when I hot soaked it.

Thanks MP. I'm pretty much decided. The problem is the XXL is out of stock. I might try the IH64 in black instead.

It will shrink, and the hems will become curly so it'll look shorter.

That's what I've read but if it doesn't shrink enough I'll be in the same situation and unable to return it. How did you wash yours?

With water and some other shirts in a washing machine. At home I can measure my xl

P2P: 22.9" -> 22.5"
Sleeve: 26.5 -> 25.2" (don´t know if I measured right?!?!?)
And the hem:

Hot wash and tumble dry may work. But the shirt was made slightly bigger initially to accomodate the shrinkage, it may be a wash. If you are still concern, I think you should return it (…..I know it is difficult). Otherwise, you will be stuck with a shirt that you can't wear comfortably. IH64 is altogether a different beast, some larger sizes are gone already, hope you will be able to get one.

Thanks for the advice. I went with the hot wash (returning the shirt wasn't going to happen) and I'm pleased with the results. The length overall and in the arms is much better and I think the p2p shrunk almost a half inch (it's right around 24 now).
