The IH forum is both an excellent resource and a terrible menace to my spending account. Diving deep on this thread is bad for my wallet.
I posted these in the Mr Lou thread, despite the boots being a custom order Boss:
And since we're talking Wesco, my Guildsman (fka the Alex):
With work style boots, two others that I'm quite fond of, Red Wing Moc, a classic. Admittedly, it's on their narrower last, and I should really be in a wide last, but the CRT leather is tough to resist.
Because I'm in what seems to be a great region for many things, including bootmakers, I made a trek down to Truman Boots for sizing and was able to convince them to build these out of the last bit of Waxy China Blue. They are part of my Bobcat boot collection, with the Bobcats being the mascot of my alma mater.
And on the topic of my Bobcat boots, I have a thing for western wear, and boots in particular. These Ariats from their Futurity series, built in Mexico, also sport my university's colors.
Lastly, for now, my party boots, python belly from Tecovas:
-
@Bobcat-Sig nice collection. Those blue Trumans are sweet.
-
@Denimhead-0 Thank you! I'm stoked on them, not only for the color but for the fact that Truman offered to make them one-off for me. I also understand that Truman is moving away from non-traditional leathers and colors, so this is one of the last builds in that regard.

@Bobcat-Sig I love the Tecovas, too bad we can’t get them over here in Europe….
-
@Dmart they won’t ship overseas? If not new, I see many pairs of lightly used boots available on eBay that should ship to Europe
-
@Bobcat-Sig no, unfortunately they don't. I contacted them once. But you are right about eBay, remains the sizing that can be tricky with Western boots. I have some Lucchese an Ariats and they all vary in sizing. I may however be in Texas in spring next year, that's my opportunity then I guess haha.
-
thanks for showing your Nice Boots everyone. These have been a while with me know.
-
@Dmart fair. I went through three pairs of the pythons to find the best fit. Though to be fair, that’s true of most handmade boots, especially those in exotic leathers.
If you’re in Texas, your boot options are endless. Tecovas are good, but you’ll have access to so much more: Lucchese, Anderson Bean, Rios of Mercedes, and a bunch more I’m forgetting. Boot stores abound, so do a bit of homework on what's available based on your travels.
