Had a sneak preview of John Lofgren's yet to be released monkey boots the other day. Really coool. Exciting to see Lofgren diversifying his boot line, taking the high quality and originality of his engineers to a new boot. Not sure of the details of the final boot, but the ones I saw looked great in burgundy CXL.

Yeah he posted this on Facebook. The workboots have been a long time coming as well, I wonder what's going on with those.

Yeah, there was a tease pic on Facebook, but I also got to see them in person. I wasn't all that excited about the FB pic, but after seeing them live in the flesh, they're stuck in my head. As with his engineers, the Monkey boots are a tough, rugged, extremely well-built workboot with a very high level of aesthetic sophistication and refinement. That's a somewhat lame description of something I find hard to put into words, but that's sort of my take on the signature of Lofgren footwear…..

Just FYI, think there will be another round of Badalassi cognac and possibly burgundy as well.
I think if you have a high volume foot and/or plan on using a good sized insole, you will be fine TTS. But if you have lower volume feet, you'll want to size down a half size. I have a somewhat low volume foot that's 12 TTS and went 12. They work, but I'd be better served with 11.5.

You might see if you can find 4-5 people who need 13. John said it takes about that I think to justify the last.

I actually sent him a note, and he responded back that he could do it if we had 4 orders - but I hate to even ask as it's not going to be a profitable investment for him, especially when you factor in his time and the opportunity cost. Super nice guy. I guess I'll start thinking about building some Wescos - or there are still some RRL Murdocks on eBay in size 13 I'd consider… Having said that, if anyone is interested in size 13 JLs, they can PM me.

John lofgren is one of those guys that I really want to support. In every account I've heard it seems that he's as helpful and as kind as you could possibly be, and that's really saying something when other retailers like Giles and Kiya are top notch.

Yeah, I thought about doing a full court press and checking on FL and SF, but then as I was thinking about trying to get folks to commit, make deposits, follow-through, etc. And then I saw this - http://viberg.com/collections/footwear/products/engineer-black-horsehide - I got the last size 12 UK in this 8" black shinki horsehide (which I think is like a US 12.5 or 13). This is a highly worthy boot and if it doesn't fit I can return it. Brett said on instagram about these boots "Probably won't make them again, just because the cats paw half soles are near impossible to get, had to pull strings to get them, same with the buckles, which are very expensive comparing to what others are using. Maybe next winter we will do some then special again."

FYI, the black engineers are coming to Self Edge in April. Price will be extremely close to the Japanese price.
