They look like versions of the Manifold URA-02, which seems to be the now extinct IM-URA-M, URA-03, and URA-04.

Why are guys getting excited about coin purses?  The IHG-04 was good enough.  I gave mine to D666 because I looked like a clown pulling that out in the country (blue collar styley).

Different strokes. A wallet, keys, knife, and light is enough for me to carry. I don't even use the coin purse in my MW.

People are probably stoked about it because its clearly a elegant, utilitarian design that pushes the limits of construction methods and materials. In other words its an Iron Heart object. Maybe when Hakari designs a medical marijuana perscription "purse" then you'll be stoked and the rest will wonder why.

The first time I ever realized I needed a coin purse was in Toronto. Fucking Canadians love coins, as they have no dollar bills. I always leave with $10+ in coins. Gotta go somewhere. Can't say I've ever used one in the states though.

The coin purse doesn't make much sense to us yanks I guess. I'm with Shane though, when traveling abroad, it could be useful. The Pound Sterling, the Euro, and the Yen tend to leave you with a shit ton of coins. Not so much with the USD.
