I received a subscription to Grounds for Change for my birthday and have been impressed. Normally I buy fresh roasted beans locally, but my step mom knows of my love for good coffee and hooked me up.  GFC is doing a lot of things right in terms of agriculture, and I appreciate knowing farmers and the environment are taken care of whileI get my fix.

Yes,You make total sense. I’m guessing that there’s some way for you to interrupt/stop the brewing process,so that you can stir. I’ve heard nothing but great things about those machines. Definitely on my list of things to get.

I'm drinking coffee now but I'm slightly nauseous from some bad sushi yesterday.  How far is Cranford from Philadelphia?  Just drive down and get some!

I’ve been drooling over that coffee maker for years. Make mostly Chemex and pour over these days, with an occasional French press.

Went to their site as I'm always looking for new/different coffee suppliers. Couldn't find out any info as to how dark they roast their beans. And just curious how are you brewing it. I do 90% of my brewing in a Chemex brewer.

Hey bud. I use a Chemex set up or a French press. I’ve used a cheap drip machine as well. When I’m lazy, tired or too busy with my daughter! I’m curious about the roast as well. I’m sure they would get back

When you look at the beans, how dark would you say they are,as compared to a French or Italian roast, which is very dark? Thanks for the quick response. Currently getting my coffee from Old City Coffee Roasters in Philadelphia. www.oldcitycoffee.com Currently really enjoying their 6 bean espresso blend.

It’s on the lighter side I’d say. I’m a dark roast fan normally. By these are such flavorful coffees. So different from What I normally drink.

They source great beans and roast them gently. I really hate when beans are burned. So often it seems that great beans are sourced and then the roaster fumbles at the goal line by burning them.

I am especially a fan of their single origins. Some heat from East Africa in particular.

I've been told that if beans are air roasted, and they aren't coming into contact with the hot metal of the roaster,as much or as often, they can be roasted to a higher temp/darker color without imparting the burnt taste that we don't really want. Can't vouch for the truth of this information. My current beans are dark roasted without the burnt taste.

Kaladi Brothers here air roasts and they are glossy/oily, dark, and to my palate, overdone, but that's the only air roasted that I'm sure I've had. They have a good reputation among those who like darker coffee though.
