Sweet pants, but that is the best emoji ever.

Looking good Richard.

There is some discussion on SUFU about next years HWDC meet up, as you know the OG plan was San Francisco, but this is seriously expensive for anyone travelling from Europe (including me), and there are almost twice as many competitors on the East Coast so I would like to move it to NY. The discussion arises from me pointing out that we could go to Tokyo if there was some serious interest…..what are peoples thoughts?
-
I can afford to go to NYC. I can't afford to go to Tokyo. And even if the cost was the same, my kids aren't ready for a 13+ hour flight, but they've done the 3.5 hour flight to NYC reasonably well.
-
Fair comment Chris, it's £1000 cheaper for me to go to Tokyo than NY, and £2500 cheaper than going to SF. I'm looking at NY or Tokyo, I won't be able to swing SF I don't think, but if the majority votes it I will certainly try.

I am happy to do any, USA would be better unless japan is around May when all the people in the loop go to see the retailers. If we do the US i would be touring around, but NY make sense if more members live there

Wow, that's crazy; it's a shorter flight by several hours. Seems like it should be cheaper to go to NYC.
-
It's the accommodation which kills NY, with SF it's both.
I can get a week in LA for the family for about £3k, in SF it's £5k, in NY it about £2.7k in Tokyo it's about £2.1k.
Hotels in SF are priced pretty much the same as NY, but the flight is more expensive. No idea why, but accommodation in Tokyo is about half the price of either of them.

Look at AirBnB. There are some stunning apartments in The Mission. Look t this one, 3 beds £886 per week:

I did think about that G, but then I lose the package discount on flights. My investigations have only been cursory thus far as the flight prices will not be released until September/ October.
Another thought I had was having a meet on both coasts simultaneously. I know Beatle is really eager for SF, so maybe she could do West coast and I could do East?
-
If you do 2 meets do them say 1, 2 weeks apart cause I would like to go to both places

That's ambitious. I like it and might even try to copy it.

Yeh, I don't see that happening unless someone else wants to do 100% of the organising.
