monday - i think the moc-toe redwings do look better with a lot of wear. not feeling the worn down soles at all, but yeah…it´s like adding a new pair of laces to a broken in pair of shoes/boots...makes them look like 10times better again 🙂

but you know i´m gonna baby my yuks...that´s 4 sure  😘

ronald - resole looks good imo.

I think someone said one was chromexcel ( or something similar ) and they replaced it with featherstone leather for the beckmans.

The 9016 is made with Featherstone Leather and the  1909 with leather  fullgrain Horween, which were softer and easier to break in. The 1909 were released on a limited number for the 100 years celebration.

They'll get better, once you get used to them.  Probably.;)  They look great, though.

i like the look (of Ron's resole) but can't do painful walking as i tend to be on my feet for long periods of time.

did you try maybe insoles to add some comfort to your step?

You need arch support.  If there is that much weight on your heel (judging by how fast they wear, like mine), it forces the arch to be flattened out, causing discomfort.
Getting insoles with good arch support changed my life.

I seem to be suffering from this:

But I read from some sites that people with this problem normally wear out more on the inner side of the heel… So which is which? I'm so confused..

Judging by that picture, I think the outside of the foot hits first. All of my shoes wear on the outside.

Part of that confusion could be terminology; pronation is movement of your foot- direction could be either way.  Over pronation (which people often just call pronation) is excessive movement to the outside of your foot.  Under pronation (which people sometimes call supination) is excessive movement to the inside of your foot.  I just made that even more confusing, didn't I?:)

Either way, a good insole will help stabilize your foot, support your arch and reduce discomfort and tiredness in your feet.  I'd also recommend a visit to a podiatrist to get a more in-depth analysis of your feet, walking pattern, general physical condition, etc.  You could also go try to find a good running specialty store (not a general athletic shoe store in the mall staffed by teenage goofballs).  They will often have you walk/run on a treadmill and film you from a couple of different angles so that they can do a gait analysis and make personalized recommendations based on your specific issues.

You gotta take care of your feet, buddy.  Foot problems have a way of cascading into leg and back pain and generally making your life miserable.
