          just stumbled across the topic….

@cander49 … that is one super human effort there... even more so with the added boredom factor of the treadmill!

          Top effort too @Nkwkfld

and @Brock  - that looks like an epic run around Mt hood… what an absolutely beautiful place and awesome phots as per usual from you! 😉

Everything is just on such a huge scale compared to the UK... I'd love to ride around there on my mountain bike... or dirt bike for that matter!

Thanks guys! @Baba-san, everyone keeps asking how in the world I did that on a treadmill, and my reaction is the exact opposite: how in the world could anyone do this NOT on a treadmill?  😃 I didn't have to carry any supplies and still, I had a box of gels, stack of cookies, candy, and 3 bottles at my finger tips the entire time! Plus, I got to watch TV for the first 31 miles and then crank some music on the sound system in the last 19 miles. I couldn't imagine a more optimized environment for something like this.  🙂  In all seriousness, I get really bored if I'm doing a short, easy on a treadmill, but if I'm doing something like a workout, a long run, or a time trial, I'm focused enough on the run and what I'll get out of it that it never gets boring!

@cander49 an impressive effort to watch- thanks for doing the zoom thing, it provided some entertainment at work. As you might be to odd person for liking treadmills, I am the odd person who likes to virtually spectate. I’ve watched Moab 240 the past few years, as well as a few other ultras. And all it is it watching someone’s tracker very slowly move around a map!
I’ve come to appreciate the treadmill in the past year, but don’t think I could do 50 on it…. maybe some elevation gain based goal, like 10k vert.

@Brock  That's more then I can do. Your photos are magnificent. Hope to make it to Oregon someday. Crater Lake was booked for this summer. Maybe next year.

First marathon done. A trail event with just under 700 meters of elevation. It hurt and felt great at the same time. Hit my goal of under four hours despite the mud.

Thanks guys. In a couple weeks I'm marshalling a 100k event, picking up the course signs for the last 50k. Looking forward to seeing people take that on.

@Nkwkfld It was good to see you sprinting the other way as we made our way up the first leg! I saw you on Sunday as well running by the Eastney Tav, frantically waving from my car but you were in the zone!

Hoping to do this regularly again!

Trying to decide on a good plan for this 100k in July http://www.serpenttrailrace.com/100k
But also am doing a 70.3 Ironman in September so want to keep swimming and biking.
This plan looks nice, but thinking of keeping the weekend long runs and subbing a couple midweek runs for bike and adding in a swim or two on rest days. Then after the 100k adjusting the plan to a tri focus.

Wow, good on you @Nkwkfld taking this on!  Do you have any good places to look at training plans for a marathon?  Need something to stick to as currently only doing the odd park run  😃 but from 4 months out will need to be regimented with planned patterns and longer runs

@AdamC what marathon are you doing?

I usually just google for plans and see what comes up. For shorter distances I've used garmin coach which is nice because it is dynamic and so gives you very specific pace-based workouts according to your ability, how you're running/sleeping, and your goal. But garmin only does that for 5k/10k/half marathon. But then you need to have a garmin watch.

I guess there's not enough demand for 100k plans. I marshalled the 100k last year and the ones who struggled wished they had done longer runs in training…

For my first marathon I think my longest run was 23 miles. I was also doing a trail event so did my long runs on similar surfaces and went a couple times to run on the course. Such things are not always possible, but can make race day more enjoyable.

Let us know what sort of plan you decide to go with, and maybe some southsea group runs are in order. There's a local guy who coaches and leads some group runs, track Tuesday mornings, social slow runs on Fridays, hill Thursdays...
