Americans. From a British Perspective.

I have just returned from family holiday in Florida, something we have looked forward to for years, we had a great time!
It's the first time I have been to the US as an adult and the kids loved it, they spent half the first day giggling at the fact that people do actually talk like they do on American TV programs
Not sure if they thought the accent was just an act or something!!I'd like to say what a pleasure it was to be around American people. Genuinely surprised at how polite and friendly people are. Particularly if someone accidentally stands in your way for example, and restaurant guests leaving as you enter "enjoy your meal". Small things, but something we see less and less of in the UK. Americans still seem to have a good grip on what is right and wrong and how to treat people.
Being from the UK, we typically holiday in Europe, and for me at least, European countries always feel a bit like alien land. However much I might like the people, they don't feel like "our people". Totally different feeling in America, they are clearly our people. We are the same.
I think the "Special relationship" is something to be proud of and hopefully treasured by us both in the future.
Can't wait to go back. God bless America!

@ChadwickBelts glad to hear you had a good experience! I was just in Florida last week myself. Most places I’ve been in the US, which is a lot, have about the same behavior, in my experience. Of course there’s the occasional bad apple, but that’s probably everywhere. Can’t let the few of em ruin your day

This was not the post I was expecting, so glad to hear it. We have some folks on here visiting us in Baltimore next month. I hope they can report the same. Although there are some vibrant characters in Bmore.

There are awesome state parks there- particularly Manatee Springs State Park. Definitely the most beautiful state park I have been to. Didn't see any manatees but we saw an otter.

@Oaktavia every time I’ve been in the gulf we have dolphins come up pretty close. I’ve been seeing them a lot in the bay recently too but the water ain’t as nice up here.
