I'd be interested to see… Gordon still has it listed at a 4-6% shrinkage. I know its ill advised but I'm really considering doing a pair of raw no soak and just not washing like a dirty hippy i know its bad on the denim as well and reduces their life but Tired of being so limited. Let the criticism begin... 🙂

Tat, look at what can happen when you do this.  No soak, no wash, rides a bike, doesn't get crotch blowouts.  I think it's very individual, but these results IMO are beautiful:

Swiss, I'm with you. I have a buddy who didn't wash his somets for 4 1/2 years.still not washed. The whole thing about them needing water is not for everyone. Depends on the denim mabey. But he has no blowouts and they are very slim

Not nearly as impressive, but here are some 12 oz sanforized/rinsed jeans I did this with for8-10 months.  They do have triple stitched inseams, seat, and yoke to be fair, but zero blowouts, not even close really… Tons of life left in them, and I wrecked these bitches, biking, farming, riding horses, all sorts of manual labor...  And no they don't stink either.  I think there are a number of factors to jean longevity and aging, ranging from the fabric, the cut, the fit, the person's activity and biology, the construction, etc...

            Think it, be it.

Thanks guys! I love ruedis jeans, but I will always argue with anybody, that thinks wearing jeans completely raw is a real option. It is doable, but is against everything that is linked with the history and intention of blue jeans as working clothes. It will weaken the fabric, look and feel unnatural and  I prefer the optic of washed pairs. Not to mention the smell. (But it takes some commitment and craziness top do it, and ruedi has both ;))

Hi everyone I am new to here and I have some doubts in samurai and IH denim. May I know the difference between IH634sr, IH634s, s5000vx21oz? Because my thigh are kinda of huge. My waist is 36inch (94cm) thigh is 24inches and calf is 17inches. Pls help me out as I am quite new to denim.

You could nearly write a book on the differences. For that kind of question, just do your research. That's half the fun. The 634sr is not availible anyway, it was limited edition and long gone now.

5000VX: I only had those in 17 oz I think… I'm pretty sure the cut on the 634S'es is a fuller one, especially thigh-wise... That is if you go true to size (which I'd advice)... The 634SRs are defo a fuller cut but no longer available so...

IMO, there is not that much difference between the 634 and 5000 cut. Both are midrise straight cuts, somewhat 66 inspired (but not as slim as many other 66 models). However, I owned the 634 in 32 and 33 and my 5000 is 34. If sized like that, the thighs are also pretty similar. The Samurai 21 oz denim fades great and pretty quick, whereas the IH is harder to fade (generally speaking). The Samurai denim is a tad stiffer and slubbier, although it doesn't make much difference on heavy denim.

Oh I see. Thank you guys. Therefore I can say that the 2 denims are somewhat similar just that IH are harder to break in as compare to samurai? So IH are more durable? Cos in the past my nudie there is a hole at the crouch area. So now I going for more durable jeans. Which I can say that IH will be a better choice?

Hahaha! I got u Yo! Hahaha! And I can say that 634s is there raw or unsanforized for it? And I notice it like 634s is like a classic pair of IH jeans that people will have as their first pair jeans then followed by others.

If you want a raw Unsanforized 634S, get the 634SV aka The Vulcan. It's similar to the 634S, but the 634SV has slimmer legs and a lower rise. Instead of 21oz denim, it's 18oz, but its way tighter and warmer than the flagship 21oz (which is sanforized).
