IHM-53-ODG - 12oz Whipcord Lightweight N1 Deck Jacket - Olive Drab Green
-
yeah. the sleeves are fairly straightforward for my local tailor to shortened. Which I have done many times including my N1 wool deck jacket.
I measured the wool lined that I have and its 22 and a bit inches across. Which makes the lightweight wider. Did most people size down when coming from a wool lined to the lightweight?
-
@hamnjam I think that wearing it as a lightweight jacket would probably be best depending on the area and climate you deal with.
If you follow this measuring guide: https://ironheart.co.uk/pages/how-we-measure-jackets
I would compare it to a jacket that you already own like a type III or other similar jacket by using the link for measuring above. That would give you a good idea on how it would fit.
You could also wear it a little larger if you plan to use it as an outer layer over heavy flannels, sweatshirts, hoodies, etc. Really up to you if you want to wear it smaller or larger.

thanks for the reply as well as what sizes the crew wears and their vitals.
Settled on the medium and am excited for tomorrow morning. I really like my N1 with wool but it's only worn for a narrow window where i live (Vancouver, Canada). So the lightweight is a great alternative.

@Ross Probably an odd question - but it looks like you are similar in build to me. I'm 6'2.5" and 215 lbs. Athletic build . When looking at coats/jackets what measurements do you tend to look for? My arms are longer so I like 27" sleeves, 51" chest for jackets, 21" shoulder.
I lean XXXL with this jacket because of the sleeves.
-
@rahrah12 Yeh arms tend to be fairly key for me, i've got real orangutan arms so do have to watch the length - 27.0" bare mins, then up to 28.0" in leather or other materials where i know I'm going to get elbow creasing reducing the length over time
After that, chest then waist then length, never had to worry too much about shoulders as im not athletic so if I get those right then shoulders tend to follow

XS sold? Or wasn't part of run? Any shops get it?

We love the weight of this one. Get the most wear out of this with some layers underneath.
We’ve got Medium & Large available for those who missed out:

We're down to XL + XXXL for all those still looking.
-
@guiltyparty Do you happen to know what size the model is wearing and what his measurements are?
-
@thread.and.steel I do indeed. He's wearing a Large. He's 6'1 / 180lbs and 41" chest.

Secured!

@BenBWH Just bought one from Rivet and Hide too... I have a N1 but want to try this lighter one, hoping I can wear it during spring too!

Looking at ordering this from a retailer.
Question on sizing since I do not have a jacket to compare.
I am looking at this to be used with layers underneath for the mild winters I get in San Antonio.
I think I will mainly wear flannels/CPOs/kersey underneath to layer.
If my flannel/cpo/iron heart shirt in general that I look for has a chest of 23.5-24” which usually falls into an xxl, should I size down on this jacket to an xl? Only thing I notice most of the time is that the sleeve length on the jacket is usually shorter than the sleeve length of flannels/cpos that I have. But the chest size should give me room to layer?
For quick reference on the xl jacket, chest is 25.1” but sleeve is 25.4” compared to my Kersey western or CPOs which are chests of 23.5” and sleeves right at 27”. I assume the sleeves will bunch up a bit in the jacket? Also of note is that iron heart sleeve length on my shirts I have are usually too long.

Does anyone feel that the sleeve-openings are to small to get the hands out ? I had the last iteration of the jacket and had to return it, because of it....
But i really like the look of this one
