IH-8301S - SBG "Super Black Fade-To-Gray" Denim - Slim Cut

After my 555-03 shrunk up a bit too much for me to squeeze into them, I have been missing having an SBG variant in the arsenal.
While I could have made a 36 work, the rise of the 301 cut dosnt always work for me so I gambled on a 38 and the fit is 100% perfect for me.
Luckily, the measurements all worked into my favor on the pair I received. Waist was 1.5" smaller than the chart, Rise was .5 larger in front, thigh is perfect and length was 2.5" shorter.
Very happy with the way they fit, and once the denim settles and I give them a soak, I'll probably get 2" or so chopped off the hem.

That I did @Cfk87 ! I was worried the 8301 would be pretty baggy on me with a super low rise, but the rise is actually taller than my 634s, with a slightly larger thigh and nearly perfect taper. I wear pull on boots almost everyday, and it always bummed me out that my 555-03 didn't work with them - luckily these are perfect for engineers and ropers

Does anyone know if IH would ever release a lighter-weight SBG in a similar cut? Say, a 555, 777, or 301?
I think a 14- or even 18-oz SBG slim cut would be really interesting…

There is a 16oz SBG in the double front logger jeans, but doubtful we were ever see a lightweight SBG in a slim fit.
The 777-SBG is a wonderful slim fit as is the 555-03 if you want something more slim than the 8301, and the 21oz SBG is very comfortable, even given its heft.

How much roomier (and where?) is the 8301 compared to the 555? I don't see the 301 listed on the fit page.
Appreciate the help! I am a very happy owner of 633SII which I have in a 31 - I assume the 555-03 would be a similar size. is that correct?

And the 8301 is quite roomy in the top block and offers a much lower rise, but a more straight style cut from knee to hem as opposed to the 555-03 which tapers aggressively from the thigh to the hem

Little soak + wash protocol this week for my 8301s.
These have been worn pretty regularly over the last 4.5 months and only showing moderate fades.
Digging these, although they are getting a little loose on me.

@Appfaff, I’m thinking about copping these and sizing down to a 34. I tried them on at self edge, and it may take me a month of wear to get used to them. That being said, it sounds like they stretch a bunch. My 633s-OD I love, but regret not sizing 34, as they’ve stretched out a ton. I know these are a bit slimmer cut, which worries me about the down sizing, even though it appears these run big and are stretchers. I’ve been debating on these and the IHxVS777S-21, but leaning 8301, did you ever get a pair of the Vaters for comparison? Thanks, man!

Hey man, I think that is the right way to do. When I bought mine I thought they would be snugger than they were, (although the chart online SE online is way off) and they stretch like crazy. It took a few weeks but then the waist and top block especially were super baggy.
I do not have the Vaters but I have the new 777 14oz. I have a soft spot for the 301 since it is a “slim cut I can life in” - meaning the loose top block (which a lot of people hate) means I can tuck in shirts, bend down and squat to get my kids, all while having a slim-ish leg.
My pair is 38 and stretches about 1.5” after every wash within a few days. I have contemplated getting the 36s as well…

You will love then JSJ - if hemmed right, you get that slim straight look a lot of people desire from the 666 cut, but with added mobility since the thigh is generous.
