4x4’s & Overlanding
-
Seen some interest in rigs so here I am making my very first thread.
Whether you spend your time in the dirt, or love to keep your rig clean on the pavement..
Drop some pics of your 4x4’s, overlanding adventures, set ups, you name it!

I’ll start it off:
So here’s my rig!
A 2021 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Premium. When I bought mine, 4Runners were at their peak and the only way to get a TRD offroad/pro was to agree to paying a $10k+ mark up.
That was not going to happen.
I settled on this SR5 premium, it had 40k miles on it & it was a 4x4 which is all that really mattered to me.
The build is below:
- 2021 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Premium
- Dobinson Twin Tube Suspension w/ Dobinson UCA’s
- Black Rhino Convoy wheels wrapped in 285/70/17 tires
- Body mount chop
- Roam Cases & Roam Awning
- Gobi Ranger rack w/ Ladder
- Baha Designs Ditch & Fog lights
- many others that I have put on the truck/gotten rid of. Including tire swing outs, portable showers, and other accessories.
I’ve taken this truck off roading many times. Busted both of my passenger doors (which are still busted,) replaced my front bumper, drowned my starter, almost over heated my engine— TWICE, busted my alignment more times than I can count, and probably more things that I’m just forgetting.
Some of my best moments came from living in this truck. I lived in my truck for 6 months intentionally. I wanted to live that “van life,” and decided to do it out of my 4runner. I built everything myself and it was a blast.
I’m going to drop a good amount of pictures down below that show my truck in different stages of its build. Some things have been changed up!

when I get back in town I'll snap some pics of the taco! its a 2004 SR5 - barely at 168k. love seeing some yota love on the forum!
-
@indigo_nico heck yeah dude, stoked to see it! Love me some 2nd gen tacos!
Edit: 1st gen*
-
your 4runner looks stunning dude. dream build for sure!
-
@indigo_nico thanks man! I’d love to do so much more to it but all my money is getting taken by IHUK

I’m wanting to go up to at least 34’s, do a tune, and possibly change the rack to a Sherpa one. Once I somehow get enough coin maybe even long travel it!

@worn2fade fantastic thread and can’t wait to see where this goes…I’ll add some toys in a bit

My old rig. No overlanding, but lots of hunting and fishing. My hunting group’s last deer lease was quite large, so I would camp at the back of the property away from everyone so I wouldn’t make a ruckus when I set out to hunt the next morning.

-
@goosehd love it man! What do you pull with that thing?
-
@Go-For-Chill looks killer bro! I’ve never hunted but always wanted to try it. What do you have now?

I think I posted a picture of my rig on here before. 1970 Bronco, 302.
'Rolling resto', it still needs a lot of TLC. Running on 31s, 1" body lift, 1.5" suspension. Converted to an NV3550 5speed.
Still debating if I should touch the body, but then again I know how this ends, been there before.
Current state of affairs:

Trying to hunt down a ticking noise. Pretty convinced it's the valve guides, a buddy of mine will rebuild the heads.

@worn2fade My wife’s family owns a farm and I use it on/around doing all kind of stuff. Most of the time I just fill the thing with fire wood, but haul the boat and toys (dirt bikes, 4 wheeler, Argo, side x side). A buddy of mine is an arborist and drives a 2500 gmc. He got stuck in a snow bank hauling a trailer that was loaded very heavily with logs…I put the straps on and pulled him out barely breaking a sweat. Even he was blown away with the power the thing has.

Super cool @tody - dig the colour too
