we have a big asparagus area between Bremen and Hannover , and quality and taste are among or maybe even the best in Germany it says. I always take the slimmer ones as they are better in my opinion. I cook the cut offs for hours with a little lemon , butter and little sugar and salt of course. In that stock I cook the asparagus, it definitely improves the taste a lot !! I freeze the stock afterwards and use it every time during the asparagus season. And finally you can make an awesome asparagus cream soup out of it

@Daniel-San every asparagus region will claim that title for itself. To me asparagus is the elevator music of vegetables, bland and non-offensive. Also, everyone knows the best asparagus is from Abensberg or Schrobenhausen

not true, it's around Braunschweig where I grew up, alternatively in Schleswig-Holstein

Nope, sorry to disappoint you guys, but the best white asparagus grows in the Lavanttal in Carinthia, Southern Austria (as you can read here: https://www.spargelhof-sternath.com/ )

@goosehd please do. i can't understand the german obsession with white aspargus either. the best i ever had was in bc, green of course, as a side for a plank grilled salmon.
