Perfect, thank you! but is there no one in the forum who has used some Levis 511 to compare? It's my first purchase of IR pants and with the shrinking issue I don't want to mess up... a long time ago I tried the model 777 14oz in a store and my correct size was 32...

@ironhead84 Tag size from other brands means little to nothing and the measurements of your current jeans (assuming they fit the way you want) are key to ensuring the correct fit.

The Ironheart jeans have been washed in a way that should eliminate almost all potential shrinkage. Judging on your posted measurements you could either choose the 31 inch (will have to stretch them a bit) or the 32 which will be slightly large.

That choice is for you to make especially if you are going to hem them. Once you hem them, they are not eligible for exchange.

@ironhead84 These are jean that aren't "mass produced" and batches can vary from restocks, I would honestly do a bit more research on the denim and look over the product thread and see how they look/fit on others... (on the webpage on the IH website there should be a link to the forum post about the product) and do a bit of reading of what others are saying, like others have said once you get them hemmed they're non-refundable...

That said, levi's are mass produced compared to IH jeans, if you're new to raw denim there's so much to learn and you're in the right place as I've tried all the Osaka 5 major denim brands and IH are my favourite by far. You could even order a 32 (not sure if 31 is out of stock) and try them on, if they don't fit right or you have other issues you can send them back... I'd honestly try visit somewhere local like Rivet and Hide if you're in the UK or if you're in the US there's a few retailers I believe.

Good luck and hope you get your first pair you're happy with!

I understand, thanks for the answers.

I have seen many photos and I have some Iron Heart products (but not jeans), I have selvedge jeans from other brands... the problem is that I live in a small country in Europe and there are no physical stores.... I also understand first before hemming it must be soaked for the first time to see if it shrinks the length of the jean…it is correct?

@ironhead84 it honestly depends on the type of denim you choose, and the 14oz you mentioned isn’t going to shrink, so you’re good to go with hemming. If you measure a pair of jeans that fits you well and compare that to the size charts provided by Iron Heart, you can’t go wrong (assuming you choose a randomized denim that isn’t going to shrink. Look at the “fabric focus” section for each pair of jeans you’re interested in to ensure you find one where “no shrinkage is expected”. Most people don’t have access to a retailer and rely upon the size charts that the Iron Heart crew provides. I’ve never purchased a pair of Iron Heart jeans at a brick and mortar shop, and using the method mentioned above, I’ve always had great success.

Read the shrinkage data on every product page, most, but not all, will say this:

@ironhead84 the IH model closest to Levi’s 511’s is the 555. Although obviously to the same they are both slim fits with a straighter leg from knee to hem.

Slim, not skinny. The 666 is close, but i think you’ll find the hem to be wider on the 666 than the 511. That will depend a little on the length of inseam you desire however.

In my experience 666 is slimmer in the top block and wider in the hem than 511. Levi’s are terribly inconsistent in their sizing though so YMMV

                                        1. Trust the Iron Heart measurements on the product page. They are very accurate.
                                        2. Listen to the how we measure tutorial so you know how to measure the Iron Heart way.
                                        3. Listen to @neph93 advice he knows what he is talking about. If he says the 511 is closer to the 555 he is accurate.

I find 666 fit sort of like 501’s which is my personal comfort zone. Buying jeans without being able to try on isn’t easy. If you end up getting the 555’s, I would plan on hemming locally so if they don’t fit you properly, you can return back to Iron Heart. Good luck OP, let us know how you do.
