I think the overdying is done in Japan but I wonder if there was a way to overdye some of this stuff? I love my OD iron heart lol

You need black fugitive dye. You can pick it up at a craft store. It won’t be the same as what you get from IH unless you have an industrial washing machine and industrial dyeing process, but in principal you just dye it black in a bucket of water mixed with dye. Repeat a few times for better saturation.

@CosmoSix5 I do have a pair of od jeans for recycling. We have just sold the two back pockets as Relove coasters, but I have the rest to create products from. So, you will see authentic od products here soon.
With regards to dyeing in general, I will keep the denims as I receive them in their original state. I may dye some of the shirt fabric I have for lining as they have bleach splats for instance, but not the denim 😊

What happens to all the 2nd and 3rd grade 25oz and 21oz denim that you guys buy from the mill anyway? Could those rolls be shipped to UK for @Lynne to find out usable parts?

Our 2nd and 3rd grade denim typically just has neps and/or stuttered weave in certain sections of the roll, those can be cut around for small items like bags and calendars....So is used in Japan.

Hello master of the sewing machine @Lynne
looking at the great stuff that you're creating out of the denim cut offs etc,
I wonder if a button extender wouldn't be a good addition to the repurposed portfolio.
something like the attached picture, but with the IH level of detail and love.

                                    Cheers, Peter

@peng great idea! I’ve got some smaller lengths of waistband that we could use for this. I add it to mix 🙏

@Lynne That's even cooler if you'd use an existing waistband with it's buttonhole and add a new button (silver or copper)
Or, if you have a buttonhole sewing machine, use the existing buttons and add a buttonhole.
Whether you really need two new buttonholes is open to question.

Never mind. I would buy 2-3 of the extenders.

Do you think a regular Dylon pod cycle would sufficiently cover the stain, or would a more industrial process be needed for the bleached fabric to take on the dye?
