      Well I had been deliberating for months and finally took the plunge as it was the last pair left in 34”. I usually take a 32” in 777 but the Berkeleys I took a 33. Kiya said the waist shrunk massively on the OD pairs hence the size. Was nervous about Self Edges measuring but after a lot of research when they arrived this morning my deductions were spot on! 1/2” smaller in the waist and thigh compared to measurements IH way. These jeans are the best fitting pair I have. The cut is a dream, just the right amount of taper, rise and room in top block for me and the material is sublime. Super comfy from the off. Cannot recommend them highly enough. Love the deep pockets!

        I'm pretty good at math, but this SE vs IH measurement process chatter has me all twisted. Here's what I'm hoping someone can tell me - if SE says the waist is 38.5" in the 633, what does that translate to if IH was to measure the same pair? A larger measurement? By how much?

        Next question - for the thigh and knee - same sort of deal? IH would be a larger measurement?

        Appreciate the assist!

          @MTpockets. I can tell you with certainty that the thigh will be larger with IH measurement. Just get a pair of your own jeans and measure both ways and you will see the difference. I use to remember but not anymore the waist difference..

            Thanks @yannis - I was hoping someone would know without having to measure. Although to be sure I would obviously need to get off my arse.

              @MTpockets I just grabbed a pair and measured both ways and the IH measurement is .5" larger laid flat. These were IH 633OD 18oz 38s and they were 19" waist using the SE method and 19.5" (maybe a touch under) using the IH method. So doubled it'd be closer to 1 inch larger, actually. That's what I found. This aligns with what some others have been saying and what @Gavin666 seems to have found in his as well.

              I'd also recommend looking both up and comparing to what you have at home - that's what I'm doing before I go for the indigos and it's tell me I can go with the 36 🙂

              @Gavin666 they look great BTW!

                @dwils - Nice! I got my eye on the 38.5 - which should get me close to 39.5 - which is what I need (in that range anyway).

                Do we expect this denim to stretch an inch and shrink an inch similar to the 25 XHS?

                  @MTpockets. I think this denim is sanforized and washed so I don't think you will get much shrinkage. You will definitely get some stretching.

                    @MTpockets basically if SE was it measures 17” IH way will be c17.5”. If SE thigh is 12” then thigh IH way will be c12.5”

                            @Gavin666. Is yours on OD? Looks like it is from the picture above. If yes you will get no shrinkage. If not if you wash with cold water and air dry you will probably get no shrinkage either. If you wash hot and thrown in the dryer( not recommended) you might get some

                              So I picked up a pair of non-OD 633, and they’re pretty darn big. Wondering if I can shrink the hell out of them, since I can’t return them. Anybody have experience?

                                @WhiskeySandwich. Your best hope will be a hot wash in the washer with spin and then chuck them in the dryer and hope that thay will shrink enough to make them wearable to your liking or try to flip them.

                                  @yannis that’s the plan! They’re were way over posted measurements but I get the difference in methods. They’re in a hot wash after a hot soak now. Gonna blast em in the dryer full heat cycle too lol. Going all in. They’ll probably be a frequent wash pair anyway. I’ll follow up with the results

                                          I repeated the process again and got almost zero additional shrinkage, so this seems to be as small as they'll ever be. Thing is, this fabric has a TON of stretch to it, especially after shrinking - they're still about the same as my biggest pair. I might save these for when I grow into a full sized adult male and have worn through a few of the pairs in my existing rotation. Or I might use them as a beater pair, idk.

                                          I LOVE this denim though, really wish it was in an 888 cut. It's like a softer, airy, stretchy, crosshatchier, version of the 18oz Vintage. I really like the slubby weft yarns. I'm not sure if the 633 cut is quite my thing. It's nearly the same as 888, but with less thigh flare, created by more knee room. The rise is nice, but the fly is exactly the same length as my 888s with one less button, which imo is less gooder.
