@mclaincausey Sorry for not responding sooner, but I really appreciate you taking the time to write your impressions. One of the things I have learned especially with the higher proof/still strength tequilas is that the second sip is much more indicative of the spirits true qualities. I feel you would agree with me on this,as the first sip of a 100 proof spirit can be quite overwhelming and heat forward. As I might have imagined any spirit coming out of NOM 1123 would be exceptional. Thanks again!

@Jett129 of course! Definitely agree as usual. I didn’t use the frother this time and tend to lean towards letting the spirit oxygenate naturally, but it really is a fun tool to mix in from time to time to accelerate that process.

Not exactly, there would be dry instead of sweet vermouth in a contessa I think?

Not sure if this is a light variant or not since nonino is less bitter but higher abv. Regardless, anything with nonino is a favorite.

Good not great, perfectly serviceable tequila from NOM 1103.

@Jett129 with the roughly 1:1 $:€ exchange rate, prices are surprisingly reasonable unless I’m missing taxes. I think I’d be exempt from European VAT.

                                Got my eye on:

                                Lalocura San Martinero

                                Real Minero Largo

                                Mezcalosfera Espadin/Jabali

Heartily recommend the Still Strength Fortaleza blanco, Cascahuin Tahona, Tequila Terralto or G4 (same producer), and for the craziest spirit you’ve ever had, blue cheese bomb La Venenosa Sierra del Tigre

@mclaincausey Thanks for the recommendations. Any particular ideas for mezcal? €100+ is slightly higher than I would like to spend. Haven't sipped mezcal, we mainly use it in cocktails

@Tago-Mago If you can find it,I would recommend the Vago Elote(Which means corn),as it’s triple distilled and they use corn In the second distillation, which gives it a nice flavor note, and maybe some sweetness. Usually under $50 in the US.

Also this one is nice. Uses an autoclave or brick oven to cook the pinas in this region, so less smoke. Really tastes like a jalapeño to me

They have a bunch of great brands and some smaller formats there too. Alipus is reliable and often less expensive. Same for Bozal, the tobasiche is good.

Thanks both, great stuff. Mezcal is not as common here as whisky, gin or rum, so harder to come by
