Just ordered a buco HH in a size 30 and hoping I purchased the right size…. A 32 is 33.5 on the middle hole and after stretching would put me on almost the last hole similar to my samurai belts which are much thicker... A 30 is almost 32 at the middle hole and figure will stretch to we're its just right at middle im after a bit of wear.... Ok, I'm done rambling

Thinking of picking this up as I desperately need a brown. Currently have a natural and a black.

A little meh on the pre-roughed out buckle but it's not a biggie.

Or do you guys think along the lines of something else?

**Fuck… should have posted in the existing belt thread. Mods feel free to move/apologies.

@SilverKing if you're after alternatives then here are a couple.

Tender do three in brown, the Type 201 (slider), Type 204 (keeper buckle), and Type 206 (whole buckle).

            This is the 206.

Tender often offer one-offs through the Trestle Shop, but there are only black and brown ones there.

The other people to consider are Equus Leather, who make really lovely belts. If you want to spend a bit more, then go for their Wakugi belt, whose buckle was hand forged by a Japanese blacksmith.

I'm sure they'd make it up in the Bakers of Colyton Oak Brown leather if you asked nicely.

Equus also offer a Rentetsu buckle, which is another hand forged style, but it's out of stock at present.

All of the above options will be around $225 plus shipping. The standard Equus belts are cheaper, somewhere between $120 and $135 for the Bakers of Colyton models.

Those Tender belts look lovely. But they don't list measurements, only size numbers, which means nothing without details.

Do you know what their sizing system entails?

              Thanks

I think that roughly a size 3 is 32", size 4 is 34", and size 5 is 36". @Anesthetist , @summ3rhays and @trail and arrow all have them, and could probably advise on sizing.

Or drop an email to William Kroll via the Tender Stores site…

                  I wear a 33, ideally…

Half the people only make 32 or 34 - go figure.

I'll shoot them an email. Maybe they can cook something up.

                      leather belts stretch,
so you would be fine with 32 i guess.

That reminds me of my lovely FH belt. It just doesn't fit right - I'm inbetween a too tight and too large Setting. And the belt didn't Stretch a bit, as the leather is super thick. Should I put an extra hole in it or sell it? I don't want to risk to fuck it up…

@SilverKing that would put you between a size 3 and 4 in Tender.

You could always go for the Type 201, whereupon sizing wouldn't really be an issue. 🙂

made from 30 years old swiss army deadstock leather,
                            sturdy and thick as hell,
                            quite hard to break in,
did stretch (after half a year).
so i head to put a extra hole in it.

I have one of the blue buckled Tender belts and it is amazing. Not to say that I'm never tempted by the IH and Buco belts, but I can't bring myself to putting the Tender away. It has aged amazingly well and continues to do so. For sizing I have a 33" waist and I'm pretty sure mine is a 4. I'll check when I get off of work to be positive.

I like stitched, layered belts. If an artisan knows that they're doing, stitching two layers together with grain direction reversed will ensure that the belt doesn't stretch much if at all. It's a sign of quality. It doesn't seem like it would take nearly as much effort or skill to make a single layer belt.

                                            Think it, be it.
