that N1 idea is exactly what i want right now… i actually think the same basic concept of less warm (at least not ultra-warm) year-round versions of IH products would be great to see more of.

8oz versions of the UHF flannels would be really nice (a little less expensive and can be thrown on during fall/spring/chilly nights/etc). considering the investment and long-life durability of IH gear it's generally the kind of stuff i want to be able to wear all the time.

a lighter, less wind-proof version of the UHR denim (i.e. a relatively clean/uniform loomstate).

Great idea… although personally I'd really like a whipcord type III or First Zip with a light lining.

I love this idea.  Seriously inspired.    I am selfishly hoping it gets made in the brown whipcord.  I can't see not buying this.  I am a firm believer in corduroy pockets and collars after the IHJ-29.

Ok, we all love deck jackets, and the IH version is perhaps the most cleanly cut out of all of them on the market. However, for some of us, the days to wear such a warm coat are few and far between…

What if there was a whipcord N1 jacket that replaced the alpaca on the collar with the Indigo corduroy material from this year's western (cut the size or shape of the collar down a bit too) and the pocket linings and then used a light poplin or ventile lining to sandwich the whipcord and the wind proof layer. Essentially a heavy windproof, but not ultra warm jacket that people could layer things under like hoodies, vests and other kit.

I find myself wanting something more windproof than the Blanket Lined Tanker, something heavier than the IHJ-12 but something not as warm as the Alpaca lined jackets.

                just my 2cents.

Fantastic idea @Appfaff and I completely agree.  I was just thinking today how much I would love to have an IH N1 but it's just not practical for southern Arizona.  I am on board with this.

I wore mine in southern Arizona! Maybe only once or twice… but I looked good!

In case it wasn't obvious I'd like a heavier, warmer, more windproof type III for the same reason @Appfaff would like a lighter N-1. My type III's are good from June-August. Outside of that it's my N-1.

I'm not one to say price isn't an issue (since it usually is always the issue for me) but the way I look at it is this:

                              N1-Alpaca - 725USD / 20 days (maybe) of solid wear

                              N1LT (light) - 725USD / 100 days (maybe) of solid wear

I know which one will get my money's worth out of.

Once again, just my 3cents this time

Could the lighter deck jacket still have inside ribbing at the wrist? I know Haraki/Giles don't care, but I think Pherrows did a similar piece that looked great.

Ribbing at the wrist is a plus.  I would prefer that the main sleeve cover the ribbing, as in most deck jackets.
