Caught a boatload today. A big storm rolled through and the topwater action was poppin. 40 bass, 6 northern and 2 pumpkin seeds in 5 hours. We took cover from the storm for a bit under a rich guys boat slip.

That's actually quite small for Morocco…..The rod I had bought for the trip is a "Big Tuna 73 - Japan Special", it will cope with BFT to 200kgs....Now, of course, I won't be able to, but that's not really the point

On a rig like that, do you use braided or steel line?

PE10 Braid.  About 120lbs BS.

Steel is a no-go, we are casting poppers to the fish at distance (not trolling lures), need the flexibility of braid.  Not even sure if you can cast a steel line from a fixed spool….

I just assumed they would be at trolling depths (50-100 feet), or jigging.  Top water would be insane fun!  Especially using poppers.

Other that shore fishing, I’ve never fished ocean.

I'm assuming you'll be running the Daiwa Saltiga 20000H with that rod?  66 lbs of drag is no joke!!
