I also got my jacket, but I'm currently away on a business trip and it's going straight into the closet.
                  Pictures to follow!

@coldcashandcolderhearts what size do you have for the leather western vs the vest (e.g. same size 42 Y2, ~38M IH) or did you have to size up for the vest to work)? Thanks !

@Kjunx size 46 Y’2 (they run a size small) and XXL vest is the sizing of mine. I could do an XL vest for a trimmer fit.

@natefreezy tj was spot on in his comparison. The big buck feels more like velvet or moleskin in the nicest chamois kind of material ever. It has a surprising stiffness to it and being unlined it wears much more like a shirt if sized that way. Especially in how it's cut in the shoulders.

The y2 deer is thick, luxurious, soft, but hard faced like a "regular" leather since its face isn't split. It wears more like a jacket than a shirt and is instantly soft and pliable. It has a significant weight to it unlike the big buck so it drapes like a heavy IH hoodie.

They're very different. One is a shirt that has jacket tendencies and the other is a jacket with shirt curiosity. Sorry for the stupid comparison. If you want a shirt, definitely get one of the big bucks. If you want a shacket/jacket then the y2 might be the one to consider first. Also know that the y2 buck is lined and has an internal pocket which may be a benefit depending on what you want.

                                Hope that helps @natefreezy

@Daniel-San I think this leather has a lot of variation in thickness, and the minimum is 1mm. I’d say the majority is about 1.2-1.3, just pinching it in different spots.

Things is still super noisy but much more comfortable after a month of everyday wear. Brown showing thru on a lot of edges and seams.

@natefreezy you're welcome. For the big buck softening, I haven't worn it enough to really say. I'd ask in that thread to get better info from those that have and put it through a wash/soak.

                                          worn mine today too 🤙
mine isn’t squeaky at all , and Iam sure you’ve worn yours more than I did mine. After 2 or 3 short walks in the rain it was completely gone.
And it’s not fully broken in at all. strange how different it can be 😁
Guess you might be right with around 1,2 mm thickness, it definitely feels like more than 1mm. Only the pockets feel kind of thin but maybe the lining is thinner too .

@Daniel-San Yeah, i've been wearing this thing on average about 5 hours per day, i'd say, for a full month now, and it is squeaky as hell. It doesn't bother me that much, but it's received noise complaints haha

As much as I love this thing, that isn't my only issue. If I were to nitpick:
1: The leather thickness DOES vary a lot. And some of the thickest bits are a bit awkward. For example, the front panel of the right arm is noticeably thinner than the left, but all other panel thicknesses are symmetrically consistent. I wish the upper pockets were as thin as the lower ones, because they're much thicker. Also the inside leather lining at the lapel area is SUPER thick, like 2x, that should be some of the thinnest imo.
2: The sleeves are about .75" shorter than advertised. I think they're good length for comfort, and would probably be bad if they were actually 26" because the cuff would dig into my wrist, and i can tell they're long enough because i have creasing over the cuff, but that's a big inconsistency. If they didn't cover my wrist bone, I would have sent it back tho for being so far off chart.

Having said all that, I'm glad its not perfect. If it were, I'd be more worried about messing it up. As it stands, I'm being pretty rough with it actually. It's breaking in nicely, i like the creases, and the way it 'drapes' now, although this leather is absolutely NOT soft lol. The only other horsehide i've handled is the Mad Red, and that was much more drapey. I love this thing though, and I still dont want to take it off.

Lets see some more pics of yours, Dan!
