In Ontario, Quebec, and upper North East of the US, we are experiencing heavy smoke from wildfires which has turned the sky an awful yellowish colour:

It’s hard to capture and the smell is pretty bad as well.

There’s a pistachio tide in the harbor due to the heat here. So instead of just really hot it’s really hot and smells like rotten eggs.

It looks like the closest fire to me is about 700 km's away and the majority of them are 1000 km's away. Right now it looks like it's about 30 minutes before the sun sets outside.

Not today, but this past weekend and yesterday.

Got invited to a little weekend getaway to Kona, HI. I despise traveling during summer unless it’s work related bc I hate the heat and crowds in tourist areas, lol. Had an amazing time nonetheless.

Sunsets on that side are always amazing most likely due to particles in the sky from volcanic activity.

Tuesday there was word that Kilauea was going to erupt 7/15, so made last minute changes to extend the stay and do a little (4ish hour round trip drive) to catch Episode 51 of this active volcano. I find it funny bc I was on a work project an hr away last summer during the most active and explosive eruptions but always missed multiple opportunity (by an hour or so) to see it pop off.

Super happy to finally see Kilauea erupt in the flesh

I have 2 back-to-back projects starting soon either late Aug or mid Sept. on Hawaii Island. I’ll most likely be going back and forth for a year from Oahu to Hawaii Island. Planning to ship my truck out & bring an actual zoom lens to venture out and enjoy more of this natural beauty since it’ll be paid for

Picked up my Bonneville TT Special at Don Clancy’s moto spa today and rode it home. First time it’s been on the road in 4 years. Sweetness.

@Matt damn! That sucks. It was actually cold up in the summit, but you could feel the heat from the volcanic activity.

That sounds nice. I’ve never seen an active volcano but I’m sure if we wait long enough one will just pop up off the Jersey Shore. Seems that’s how things are going.

I miss living in a higher elevation. Cool summers are pretty amazing.
