My taupe size large Sailors sweater just arrived. I’d put the quality of AA on par with Dehen. What do you think of the fit? It’s a little more fitted than I expected but I suspect it will give a little with time. Also not crazy about the upper arm area - what has been your experience with that? Overall I think it’s a keeper.

@Phil_NYC I think that looks a size small, especially if you plan to wash it ever. And the upper arm area looks a bit “off” too. Just my opinion, but I’d maybe size up and see if it helps.

I will say I love that taupe color. I’m eyeing it in the skipper jacket

You might be right about the sizing although I think the XL would be too big all around. The upper arms are the area that feels off and also the neck hole. I will try it with a button down underneath and see if that affects the fit at all.

I don't think changing the sizing will sort out the neck and the upper arms. Some of the A&A designs are symmetrical, this one included, and that takes some getting used to.

I personally feel it looks good on you, and it will soften and relax a bit where it needs to, but ultimately only you know how it feels on you.

As Giles said, they can take a little getting used to, the one i purchased for myself also feels a bit snug, but i know long term it will be fine.

I think @giles is on the money w the issue being due to the symmetrical design and the heft of the fabric. I had a similar issue with a vintage Filson heavy sweater that was similar in design.
Silly question but is it the exact same if you wear it w the opposite side? I get that it is symmetrical but you never know.

Fwiw, I think the fit is spot on and it’s one tough looking sweater

@Phil_NYC Would you mind if I ask what your measurements are? I’m thinking about buying a Large, but looking at the product measurements, I’m leaning more towards an XL to be on the safe side without feeling snug. For reference, I’m mostly a Large in IH work shirts, but an XL in their Western shirts. I am 178cm / 82kg (5'10'', 180 lbs) with a 34-inch waist, a 41-inch chest, and broad shoulders.

@JanP I am an XL in just about every IH shirt. Measurements are 6 feet, 200, 41 inch chest and 34 inch waist. The tricky part for me is I have a very long torso and arms (36.5 inch long arms and only a 29.5 inch inseam). I am still debating keeping the sweater but trying it on a second time it definitely feels looser around my body. I think an XL would be too big on me and the shoulder seams would be way too broad, and I have very broad shoulders to begin with. Hope that helps.

@Phil_NYC Thanks, that helps a bit. I think a Large will fit me nicely, but if I gain a few more pounds, it might be too snug. On the other hand, the material might mold to my torso and stretch a bit as someone mentioned. I think I need to try them on first (L, XL) and then decide. In your case, I think it's a bit borderline with the Large as well—a few more pounds and it wouldn't work. But the arms look good. As it was already mentioned, this is a symmetrical sailor design and it's meant to be like that, which I personally like.
