IHM-53-ODG - 12oz Whipcord Lightweight N1 Deck Jacket - Olive Drab Green

Looking at ordering this from a retailer.
Question on sizing since I do not have a jacket to compare.
I am looking at this to be used with layers underneath for the mild winters I get in San Antonio.
I think I will mainly wear flannels/CPOs/kersey underneath to layer.
If my flannel/cpo/iron heart shirt in general that I look for has a chest of 23.5-24” which usually falls into an xxl, should I size down on this jacket to an xl? Only thing I notice most of the time is that the sleeve length on the jacket is usually shorter than the sleeve length of flannels/cpos that I have. But the chest size should give me room to layer?
For quick reference on the xl jacket, chest is 25.1” but sleeve is 25.4” compared to my Kersey western or CPOs which are chests of 23.5” and sleeves right at 27”. I assume the sleeves will bunch up a bit in the jacket? Also of note is that iron heart sleeve length on my shirts I have are usually too long.

Does anyone feel that the sleeve-openings are to small to get the hands out ? I had the last iteration of the jacket and had to return it, because of it....
But i really like the look of this one

@H-P-U Searching for the lightweight n1s from last fw and looking at the charts shows that this one has slightly wider but the difference is very small.

@Jord oh you’ll deffo get more seasonal wear out of this one mate, I reckon it’s pretty much a 9 month of the year option!
-
@Ral1121 I wear SP LARGE in all IH shirts, went for 3XL in this, am currently wearing it with a tee and flannel underneath stand it’s just the right size for the layers. Hope this helps
-
@BenBWH awesome. Thank you. Just the type of information I was looking for
-
@Ral1121 no worries at all mate

Usually an XL in the CPO and went Large in this. The fit is perfect. A little bit bigger than a cpo but a size down would too medium would have not worked. Honestly like it even more than I thought I would.

I’m really happy with this jacket, perfect weight for year round and will be a nice change from my other N1 which isn’t waxed therefore not water resistant.
This is incredibly well built, as for the comment above about sleeves being too tight on the previous model I don’t have this problem with mine (size medium)
So glad I got this from Rivet and Hide

My Lightweight N1 arrives today. I wear a Large in UHF shirts and XL in IH's Type III denim jackets, and I went with a Large in the N1. It looks like the Large is only slightly larger than the medium, so I'm hoping it works. I'm sure I could wear a medium, but I wanted the longer sleeves and a little extra room.
-
@singletrack I also wear a large in UHF's, and went with a medium with this... The sleeves are a little short, but only when stretching my arms out all the way which doesn't bother me. I think you'll be happy with the large

Looks like most people are taking a size down in this. The measurements one size down match the rest of my jackets, just nervous because I’ve never bought L Ironheart anything, always XL or in some slimmer western XXL
Do I just trust the chart?
-
@99Tjadams the sleeve length is what has me nervous about sizing down too much. I have to go a bit oversized by measurements for correct length.
-
Yah the sleeve length is what’s selling me on this. It will be the first IH product I won’t have to fold the cuff back on.
-
I got my normal size and I was afraid of the short sleeves but when I got it today was perfect I am looking to start to use it , here in Ireland at the moment we are in a storm so I might need to wait a little bit …

alright IH fam, what do y'all think of the fit? 165lbs, 5'10", 43"-44" chest. i got a small but am contemplating a medium. i don't intend to layer with this piece, as i'm in cali and have no real need to do so..plus i already own the oiled/lined IH-N1

@Art-Vandelay I personally think it fits perfect. Looks great on you!
