Gopher snake. Nearly stepped on the feisty little fella! He put on a pretty good show of bluffing like he was venomous. Hissing, flattening his head to look like a rattler, looking ready to strike...

Thank you, Sir. I just got lucky. I saw them through a window and was able to sneak around a corner without spooking them. Right after I took the snap, they closed their wings.

Saw this seagull smoking a cigar on my run last weekend…

Looks like a pair of white tailed kites have decided to nest in a tree on the Western edge of my property. They’ve nested back there before and raised at least one chick to adulthood. Here’s wishing them luck again this season.
