Finally got to try this jacket on (arrived on Thursday).

I don't have anything to add to the great things people wrote about the construction and look and feel.  Though I will say that for a rough & tough jacket, I'm pretty amazed with how buttery smooth the zippers glide over their tracks 🙂

I'm 5'10, 42-43" in the chest, so I ordered the XL.  I was surprised to find that the sleeves weren't as terribly long as I had expected.  Even so, I'm doing DrPat's cuff-the-sleeves trick.

I think I sized right.  It's a tad tight in the chest when I zip it up all of the way, if I stick my chest out, but I plan on wearing it unzipped most if not all of the time.

Anyhow, here are some fit pics.  Please ignore the ugly mug 🙂

That looks pretty much perfect!.. Can't seem to spot the ugly mug in the pics though… All I see is a mix of a fun and funny lumberjack and a tougharse magician...

                LOL, thanks Seul 🙂

At the moment I'm trying on the double-knee cotton ducks that arrived with the jacket…these will DEFINITELY need hemming 🙂

Yep!  I gotta say, I love them already!  When I first tried them on I was thinking "Oh man, these are waaay too baggy".  But then I cuffed the leg up a bit, looked in the mirror and thought "Hey!  These look awesome!" 🙂

Thanks for the tip on the cuffage.  I want there to be some stacking at the bottom so I won't hem them too short.  They look great with my red wing 877's.

The 801s convinced me to abandon the slim fit look… They were so much more comfortable to work in and just live in than anything else.. Very versatile as well... Would love to see a fit pic of you in the 801s teamed up with the 9527Js once they're hemmed!..

Lol, yeah, once I get them hemmed, I'll throw up some pics…with and without the 9527J.  It'll be an interesting combo as the 801s are kinda loose but the 9527J is pretty fitted.

Going to see if the wife can hemm the 801s tonight.

With layers maybe, but it is only a shell. But yes, depends on where you live.

I finally got around to wearing the jacket these last couple of days, and I love it. The 40 / Large is a really good fit for me when wearing a t-shirt and a medium weight hooded sweat underneath it. For the record, I am 192 cm (6'3") and a mighty 71 kg (156). Fit pics when I get around to it, my camera is busted at the moment.

This might be sacrilege and I would like to apologize in advance, but I will try to dye the fabric that the pocket is made from. Not big on colored details, no matter how tasteful it might be.

If you wear something underneath it, yes. Last winter, I wore my black Type III with a heavy wool commando sweater underneath it, and it worked fine unless it was snowing or below five degrees (Celsius). The fabric also holds up surprisingly well against water.
