Absolutely unrelated to anything I've read here, I'd like to share a funny story that I've experienced working retail in a brick and mortar selling outdoor equipment.

Customer comes in and asks for a very specific water purifying device we did not carry. We had however many (from my point of view superior) options that took me a long time to lay out in front of the customer. All options were for one reason or another rejected. I then called our suppliers if there was the off chance to get the device, so that I could sell that one unit we did't regularly carry to the customer. Unfortunately the item was not available for us. All I could do was to thank the costumer for trying to shop with us before shopping on Amazon.

The customer, however, was outraged that a reputable brick and mortar did not carry such an item. After apologising for the sake of politeness, she demanded that I ordered the Item from my personal Amazon account and then sell it over our counter.

I took a break a had a cup of tea.

As of now, she's worked the last four weeks without pay as it turns out. I should probably postpone my plans to buy any nice Good Art in the new future...

@RobeOfTheMagi. Let me get this straight. Your wife's employer said that he cannot pay the employees but he has no problem working them? Twilight zone for sure right there. I am pretty sure that is illegal in the US.

I can't go into details too much. They were working as usual, big company client stops paying. No funds, no pay check.

@RobeOfTheMagi I'm just imagining listing the CEOs stuff in Facebook marketplace and selling it to make up some of the funds owed, but of course somehow you'd get charged for theft for doing that if your a human, even though your time and effort was stolen

The stopping of any cashflow is just a temporary measure, I suppose.

But I don't read it as a good sign.

I’m no expert but how can the company legally run while being insolvent, and it’s not like the funds clear tomorrow if it’s been going on for a month

As I understand it, the company is in negotiations concerning restructuring over the next two weeks. Until that process is over, there won’t be any cash flow in any direction.

Due to construction I had to take rail replacement bus to the city, which is an 1h ride.
As if this wasn‘t enough this lady decided to sit right next to me on a half empty bus.
