Bummed that this thread doesn’t have more juice in it. I have very little experience wood working, but the little time I did spend in it— made me love it. I built a DIY drawer system for my 4Runner when I decided to live out of it. I now live in an apartment and it bums me out that I can’t continue this hobby living here.

I’m considering buying a Kreg mobile project center and a battery powered circular saw along with some other battery powered tools. Since it’s all pretty mobile I’m sure my dad won’t mind letting me hold down his garage every once in a while. I’m wanting to build another drawer system for my truck that’s made more for overlanding instead to being lived out of.

If I get this ball rolling soon, I’ll update this thread.

@seawolf any update on that tool chest? Or any other good stuff you’ve been working on for us to see?

@worn2fade Oh.... the tool chest. Well, I started grad school and suddenly didn't have time for anything outside of school work.

Here are a couple of things I made recently:

I made two cutting boards that open up to reveal tools inside. One is made for cooking, and one is made for a picnic.

          IMG_3567.jpeg

And lastly, I made this coffee table. The walnut top is 1.5" thick and tapers down to 5/8", and the bottom shelf is latticed leather. It's pinned with walnut dowels. The legs are maple with through-tenons that are wedged with walnut. I spent a lot of time getting that gentle curve on the table top just right.

Alright guys, I’d like some advice with something.

My wife agreed to add a garage to our apartment for my wood working endeavors. With this, we’d have to pay an extra $150/month.

She did say that she’d like for this garage to pay for itself through the wood working, so my question is-

What do you guys think is a not-so-complicated thing I can build on a monthly basis that will pay for the $150/month? Even if I have to build a few of them. I’d be listing it on Facebook marketplace. I know different people are interested in different things, but as wood workers— what do you feel the average Joe gravitates towards?

@seawolf most people worry about having to "buy" furniture when they buy a new house....."most" people...

In the easy chair with my boots on, melted whiskey in my hand. Could'na been asleep for more than three hours...time to go to work again...

Since I’ve last updated this thread, there’s been a great amount of progress in terms of getting tools. The way things are looking I may start renting my garage the beginning of next month. Super stoked to dive into this.
