@dugafola. No they dont. They dont measure the waist the thigh or the knee the same way that IH measures. I have a sneaky suspicion that the tag 36 that @dwils said it has a 34.5 inch waist( based on the self edge measurements)it will be closer to 36 inches the IH way.

@yannis and @dugafola thank you both for the input. Much appreciated. I remember reading that they measure differently. Gonna look into this and keep in mind before I pull the trigger ... 👍🏻

I would say this denim stretches a bit and fast. When i first got it new i recall it measuring 15.5 inches (white tape) or there abouts for a 34 tag. But today its gone past that (yellow tape pic). And I have only worn it out really a few times if that. I honestly reckon maybe less than 5 times on.

These look too good to pass up. Feel like I'm winging it with the measurements but if they fit as good as they read, it should work out. The 34's chart are exactly like the 888's I'd wear, just with a slightly lower rise and bigger waist, which is kinda ideal. Didn't really need another pair, but seeing as these are limited, and I have a tax refund to blow....

@cyclops good to know! Most of my pairs get about the same, so i've come to expect about 2" rather than the 1". I get why they say that though.

Does anyone have any observations about thigh measurements posted the SE way vs the IH way? I'm estimating the difference to be at least a half inch.

@WhiskeySandwich. Self Edge measures the thigh an inch down from the crotch vs IH measures at the crotch seem. I will say the difference is at list 0.5 of an inch in a flat measurement or one inch in circumference and that can make a big difference.

@yannis yup, I get how they're measured differently. I poorly worded my question. If you were to take a single pair, and measure it using both methods, you're saying the IH way would be about 0.5" larger at least? I tried it with a pair of mine and there's a LOT of taper in that top inch of thigh, which makes the SE method a little wonky to me. I guess I'm biased, When I look at a thigh measurement of 12.25", it makes my junk nervous. I know it's gotta be at least 12.75" (IH method) though, which is definitely noticeable.

@cyclops thanks for sharing the pics. That’s helpful.

I told myself my next pair was going to be 14 oz for warmer months but can’t really resist these. And sounds like they breathe and can work in warmer weather anyway.

I’m gonna go for the 36s and hope for solid stretch. My understanding is that the higher rise can allow for a slightly smaller waist because of where it sits. If they’re crazy tight I’ll swap em. 🤟🏻

@dwils think slubby with slight stretch. Very comfy right out of the gate. Not sure if the overdye changes the feel compared to the normal indigo denim cause i only have the overdye version to speak of. But its obviously not the tight weave feel of the 14oz normal IH jeans. I would consider buying the indigo version too, its just i have lots of other things ahead in the list haha.

Well I had been deliberating for months and finally took the plunge as it was the last pair left in 34”. I usually take a 32” in 777 but the Berkeleys I took a 33. Kiya said the waist shrunk massively on the OD pairs hence the size. Was nervous about Self Edges measuring but after a lot of research when they arrived this morning my deductions were spot on! 1/2” smaller in the waist and thigh compared to measurements IH way. These jeans are the best fitting pair I have. The cut is a dream, just the right amount of taper, rise and room in top block for me and the material is sublime. Super comfy from the off. Cannot recommend them highly enough. Love the deep pockets!

I'm pretty good at math, but this SE vs IH measurement process chatter has me all twisted. Here's what I'm hoping someone can tell me - if SE says the waist is 38.5" in the 633, what does that translate to if IH was to measure the same pair? A larger measurement? By how much?

Next question - for the thigh and knee - same sort of deal? IH would be a larger measurement?

                                Appreciate the assist!

@MTpockets. I can tell you with certainty that the thigh will be larger with IH measurement. Just get a pair of your own jeans and measure both ways and you will see the difference. I use to remember but not anymore the waist difference..

@MTpockets I just grabbed a pair and measured both ways and the IH measurement is .5" larger laid flat. These were IH 633OD 18oz 38s and they were 19" waist using the SE method and 19.5" (maybe a touch under) using the IH method. So doubled it'd be closer to 1 inch larger, actually. That's what I found. This aligns with what some others have been saying and what @Gavin666 seems to have found in his as well.

I'd also recommend looking both up and comparing to what you have at home - that's what I'm doing before I go for the indigos and it's tell me I can go with the 36 🙂

                                      @Gavin666 they look great BTW!

@dwils - Nice! I got my eye on the 38.5 - which should get me close to 39.5 - which is what I need (in that range anyway).

Do we expect this denim to stretch an inch and shrink an inch similar to the 25 XHS?
