              @Finn666:

since I always do care about my people, isn't there another better/cheaper way to ship things to somebody?

I'm always using dhl (=local post office!) and shipping to the USA f/example is truly a bitch…51$ (insured+tracking-I'D)

So I would be very happy if someone could help me on this?

              Thanks in advance!

if the package is under 2kg and within  L+B+H = 900mm you can use registered airmail with insurance (Deutsche Post Wertbrief).
The insurance is 1.50 Euro extra for each 100 Euro of value + the normal lettermail fee + 2.05 Euro for the registered sending (Einschreiben). Thats usual way cheaper then the DHL rate.

okay thanks again for the reply…gonna try this for the next time then!...

                            I like my cheapo D40
it just takes good pictures, is small and light
does enough for me, good cheap lens options for it
considerably less than $500 with kit lens

but gotta know what you need it to do…
need video capability? (D40 won't, most newer cams will)
do you have any lenses already? (stay in same family makes sense)
$500 body only, or with lens?
                            care to buy used?
there's just so many good cameras out there now...

A point and shoot might be more up my alley, come to think of it.

I'm very much about durability and, as many of you can tell, I'm not afraid to pay for something that will last, as I know I will put it to good use. However, it will be an introductory camera and I do not intend to be taking pictures professionally. It is just something I would like to start carrying around with me on a regular basis as I feel there are many things that I have come across and not necessarily appreciated during my years. I'd like that to change.

Video capability is not essential, as I doubt it would be something I would use. I would prefer for the lens to be included and I am not averse to buying used, given that it hasn't been beat to shit.

the D40 is quite enough of a cam
durable, the battery goes and goes forever
                                small enough to carry often
(though not pocketable, if that matters)
but there may be better newer cams, I just can say the D40 is plenty good
(I take most my pics out and about with my iphone 4)

Yep.  Works very well.  What I have found is that with Oberneufs, you occasionally get some white blotching when you apply (which does go away, but does cause a missed heart beat at the time).  To date, I have not seen this happen with the Mustang…....I have not done any comparatives though......
