Thanks man. I definitely agree with the other guys saying size for the waist and your build would dictate how these fit. I'm also a cyclist with decent lower body size relative to my waist and they seem to fit pretty spot on without being too relaxed or sloppy. I'm a true 32" and 6' tall for reference

Sounds like it’s time to nerd out on some 888 size charts and see if Mildblend has any stock to try on. Thanks for the advice guys!

@alvory Looking good! Did you machine or hand wash? I’d like mine to lose some color but want to avoid marbling.

@natefreezy colour loss primarily comes from abrasion, which you'll get more of through regular wear than washing. I've been wearing mine for about 2 months and compared them to a new pair today and it's a lot more noticeable!

The devil is in the detail..

@natefreezy you'll have better luck avoiding marbling by hand washing in a bathtub. Anything that crinkles up the fabric is what's going to cause it, so if you do use a washer, soak the jeans in the shower first before putting them in, and no spin cycle. Still, I'd say go with the tub.

Edit: whoops tagged the wrong person at first, fixed now.

@AdamJ Nice yeah I need to get mine more in the regular rotation, have just had other things I've been more keen on fading.

@popvulture Sounds good. I have done a soapy soak with these, obviously no issues there, but have thought about wash on delicate with no spin. Safer option is to stick with the tub though.

@natefreezy if you’ve already done one soak, that should help a good bit. Not sure if anyone else wants to confirm this, but I’ve found you’re at the biggest risk of marbling with the first time they hit water, and it gets a little easier each time after (makes sense, as they’re gonna lose a little more dye with each wash/soak). Still would definitely do the delicate/no spin in the washer though.

@popvulture I can confirm. After a few washes I’ve found that marbling becomes way less a factor.

Looking into 21oz and SBG. Does the 888 generally have the most relaxed seat of all the styles at the moment? I get so confused with all the high rise/ medium rise etc.
I have freenote portolas and they are a spot on fit with approx 13 inch rise. Looking at size 38 on these it's 12.7 which is close enough.

@Northman That's the idea with the 888's. I wouldn't call it a 'high rise', def more medium imo, but higher than any other IH cut. I size 888's for the waist and the rest is roomy, yet trim, depending on your build. If your Freenotes are your perfect fit, I'd just measure them the "Iron Heart way", and compare them to the chart to get an idea how they'll feel. 888 is forgiving and so is the SBG, they'll stretch at least an inch in the waist.

@WhiskeySandwich Thanks. The measurements are obviously gonna change a bit for the next run but if they are somewhat the same looks like its 888 and my usual waist size then.

@Northman minor detail about the 888 too is that with the extra rise, you'd typically wear them higher on your waist than where you may be used to. So you may be slimmer there than if you wear them on your hips. I wear mine a hair below the waistband of my boxers and have plenty of crotch room with minimal sag. If you like a slimmer fit, and can get away with a smaller waist, it works to size down a little, but thats all you
