IH-526Lod - 19oz Left-Hand Twill Selvedge Denim Type III - Indigo Overdyed Black

Agree with others, would say that the overdyeing itself is the breaking-in process. Buttons were tough though, cant even imagine a fresh 526L buttons.

So…. For those who bought first time recently what’s the journey been like. I had to send mine back as I didn’t think I could hack it… but I loved it so much I’m thinking should I reorder it. It looked amazing, it was just sooooo stiff. How are people finding it wearing regularly?? Has it been forgiving ??

Enjoying it a lot. It's still more stiff than the 21oz but it's not terrible. And I love how trim the arms/cuffs are. I actually traded in my Galaxy watch Ultra for the new thin Watch 8 now it's perfect.

@FlavourFade Thanks. For me it's always the sleeves around the area of the forearm that is a high stress area and with IH-9526PJ 21oz there has not been any problem because it is quite roomy in the sleeves and soft in my opinion. But with CPO and shirts the area always takes some time to first develop creases and then soften up and stretch. So I was wondering how that area might ''break in'' with this jacket.

@CosmoSix5 looks superb glad you’re enjoying it
-
@CosmoSix5 ps did you soak?? If so did that help initial stifness…?? Thanks

@coldsteel50
Is this your first Ironheart jacket/cpo? Just for reference to try help. I got mine like 5-6 months ago, it was kinda stiff at first, compared to my CPOs, and other type 3(14oz) but I liked it(denim armor/hug ). And nothing compared to the indigo lefty tried on recently. Plus it was kinda cool toss on the ground and watch it stand up lol. It broke in rather quickly but I wore it everyday 8hrs at work, and everywhere else for a month. And been keeping it going, it’s looking really good imo. It’s one of my favorites, and in heavy rotation with my 292. If you like it should re order it back from IH, it’s a great piece and once you break it in, just going keep getting better and better. -
@meatmarketdenim1 hey thank you.. yes this is my first IH jacket.. I loved it but I kept looking at it and it was weird seeing a jacket not kinda slump on top of itself.. I kept thinking “what the hell would I do with this on a plane - it would take up all the overhead luggage compartment it just does not want to fold”
bizarre train of thought I know but hey that’s what my brain said…. It’s good to know yours is breaking in - I did ask on another forum at the time whether this jacket would break in but someone said no, it just won’t get softer or drape which is what convinced me to return it…. BUT… I can’t stop thinking!!!

@coldsteel50
Yeah it’s still pretty thick denim for sure but it doesn’t stand up on its own anymore lol. Drapped and formed to my body a lot, really love this jacket. -
You guys think I could rock the lefty in a Large?
Enclosed I compared some other products I own as well in a Large. I want to avoid the jacket to look to boxy but would like the room for a western or UHF to be worn with a T-shirt underneath.
Thanks for your advice! -
@Indigo-Alchemist Since the lefty is over dyed, there is no more shrink to be had. If it were me, I would say yes as it should fit comparably to the Olive Drab green type III. If you are happy with that fit, then you should be good.
-
@Indigo-Alchemist fully agree with @goosehd with the addition that I would measure the type 3 you have to get accurate measurements for a direct comparison
-
Thanks @goosehd & @Tago-Mago, will double-check measurements on my olive type III.
That one sits very tight on me, I can wear it on top of a t-shirt and fit the 14oz western underneath but closing it is then possible but not the best option in terms of fit and comfort. -
@Indigo-Alchemist Watch this video: https://forum.ironheart.co.uk//post/5664
Write down your measurements from your olive jacket and send an email to the crew: shop@ironheart.co.uk and see what they have that is close to or bigger than what you currently have. It sounds like you will need a slightly larger jacket to accommodate layering.
The crew is really f’n good at what they do and will be able to help you!!!

I‘m stupid the olive type III is a size 42, that should be XL then. Considering I have some room in the N1, I think I can go with XL in the 19oz lefty as well. Now I just need to decide between the 19oz or the 16oz slubby, that looks also awesome. Any advices on deciding between those two are welcome (I know owning both is the ultimate goal though
🫣).
Thanks for your help guys️much appreciated!!

@Indigo-Alchemist 14oz western is super thick. It's basically wearing 2 denim jackets. 12oz shirt in my opinion is perfect under a type iii.

@coldsteel50 if your size is still available, grab one!! It will break in.
