@SFMCfranky super cool man, that butterfly is in a lot better shape than the ones I posted
-
I don’t know about that. You posted some very nice photos. I’ve been seeing the occasional Monarch flitting about my Buddleia bushes in the last few days. But I’ve been unable to get a photo as of yet. I’ll keep trying and hoping.
-
@SFMCfranky nice, excited to see them!
-
Busy as a bumble bee.

@SKT fuck that is rough. We've found a couple treatments of terro have helped this year. You place the bait near where you see their paths and they should be gone in weeks. Summers coming to an end too so that hopefully helps..

A visitor from Old Mexico stopped by for some refreshment this afternoon.

@SKT same over here with the ants. Feel like I’ve been fighting off ants all summer.
-
@SFMCfranky i frickin love monarchs
-
Me too,
Unfortunately, they’re getting rarer every year. They used to be common hereabouts in the summer. Now I get excited when I spot just one. I’ve planted milkweed to try and help out. But I’ve yet to see any caterpillars.
At least I have lots of flowering plants the adults seem to favor. -
@SFMCfranky I see least one or two each time I go down to the Potomac. My wife and I saw a pair of them flirting about one another, spinning and spiraling in the air. It was a magical moment. We planted milkweed too, three different varieties. The monarchs haven't found them yet I guess. I do see hummingbird hawk moths that love the milkweed and other small moths. Sometimes yellow or black swallowtail. I have seen monarchs in our backyard but that isn't where the milkweed garden is.
