IHSH-293-OD - 18oz Vintage Selvedge Denim CPO Shirt - Indigo Overdyed Black
-
Hi guys any updates on release timing for this?
-
Thinking I might give it the first wash this weekend. Had it for about 6 months as go to over shirt. Far from daily and all day wear
-
I stumbled on this thread while doing research on the 33OD … now I’m leaning toward this as it’s more of an over shirt which is sort of what I’m looking for.
I noticed in the 33 thread that the overdye process has changed from sulpher to reactive. Can someone in the know comment: is IH changing its overdye process to reactive for all its shirts going forward?
If this should be posted elsewhere, my apologies.
-
I may be wrong, but in some of the OD products recently released it says black direct dye i/o the previous sulphur dye. I assume the direct dye is still different than the reactive dye used in for example the Superblack non fade denim in a way that direct dyed denim will still fade.

Also, this may help to clarify: https://ironheart.co.uk/pages/what-is-overdying

@Twistlock thank you for this. I guess from what I’m reading the OD dye method comes down to a more environmentally friendly process.
That said, I wonder how the newer direct dye method compares to the sulpher dye in terms of fades. The older shirts I see here (sulpher dyed) look absolutely amazing.
I understand the hardware doesn’t tarnish with the newer method, but will the fades be the same or are they too new to tell?

I have 293 from the older batch, sulphur dyed etc., and 888s-21od from the new batch this year. From what I can tell, wearing them both, there is not really a difference. In my opinion, of course.

@DeeDee85 let the waiting begin then, signed up for notifications:)
-
@Brandrea it is a hell of a shirt. I sized my first attempt at a 293 wrong and had to have a refund as it was sold out in the size up. I’d love to have another go when this re-stocks but I’m not sure how to explain to my wife that I need the 293 as well as the recent Self Edge OD CPO
The OD pieces in general are a little harder to achieve contrast fades with but who cares when they all look so beautiful straight out of the gate anyway. Incredible on day 1 and only going to get better with every days wear.
The 3 OD pieces I own are in my top 5 IH purchases to date. -
@DeeDee85 Thats great to hear and I’m a patient fellow so I’ll enjoy the wait till restock and live vicariously through you all.
I’d really like a CPO but if I get too itchy I may consider the 33OD …
-
Ok guys so tell me how to justify the 33OD … I have it in my cart lol
-
33 is going to be a lot lighter and could be worn all year depending on where you live. I think that’s the main difference. If you think you might get both then you might as well get the 33 now and maybe the 293 down the line.
-
@Brandrea 33OD is a shirt, this is a CPO. That will be my justification. Also, @Twistlock has both
-
I find the OD is the only denim that I have that I don’t care about fades as it looks so good from day 1. Fingers crossed re the sleeves 🫰
