Love his high vocal range and the groovy melodies.

Love this album. Sound quality is great too.

@68degreesorless I just listened to Moondance on Tidal and now I want that album. Recognized more of the songs than I realized and it’s just a lot more approachable music to me. Astral Weeks is pretty heady/cerebral. Thinking I may come around on it as I get more into Van’s catalog.

@68degreesorless Common One is also a cool record. Plus not sure if you've ever checked out his early stuff with Them, but it's awesome for a bit of perspective / history. You might recognize this sample:

@popvulture thanks for the recommendation on common one - I will check it out. Yes my favorite shop has a copy of them again I’ve been lusting after but it’s an original in great shape for nearly $50 usd so it’s still on my wishlist…

Turn it up for tracks 4 (old times good times) and 5 (go back home) featuring Hendrix and Clapton, respectively. It’s funny- to me, 4 sounds more like a Clapton tune and 5 sounds more like Hendrix. Just overall song dynamics, the individual licks you can tell whats what.

Also interesting that stills later down played “love the one you’re with”
From google…
“The song "Love the One You're With" by Stephen Stills has sparked debate and different interpretations. While the lyrics suggest enjoying the present moment and appreciating who is nearby, the song's message has been criticized for potentially encouraging infidelity or casual relationships. Stills himself has expressed some ambivalence about the song, stating he doesn't like its message and is embarrassed by it.”

@Mizmazzle the cover is more interesting than the actual contents.
