So guys, I need a quick fit check. I have the indigo lefty in xxl .. and after the usual shrink it fits perfectly. The OD size table had all dimensions for xxxl match my xxl indigo, and a few mm more for p2p (very welcome). I had the team check p2p, but not all other dimensions. The xxxl I received now is a full 2cm shorter than the table indicates, and all other dimensions also slightly smaller. As you can see (sorry for the dirty mirror) it fits with t shirt only (which is ok) but I am worried about length and in particular sleeve length (will get creases and shorten a bit).

Having gone through a similar decision, ultimately this will come down to your preferences and use cases. Here are the questions that helped me make a decision.
Is your intent to wear it only over a tee shirt?
Do you notice any tight areas like in the arm holes, or anywhere else, that would bother you?
To me, it looks good on you with that shirt beneath but it also looks snug. Body length looks good to me. The sleeves will come up with creases but would land in a good place imo, but I don't mind shorter type 3 sleeves to show more wrist or shirt cuff. Again, it all depends how you feel in it. A size up would probably still look good.
-
@Tobi I think it looks really good, I think the length is spot on too.
-
@pechelman thanks..good points. I would like to have the option to wear it over a flannel or hoodie.. which works just about but open. Would wear it mainly open. Main issue is that I am absolutely sensitive to short sleeves, but then you have a point that this might be OK with a type3...
IH has no xxxxl in stock.. so sizing up not really an option. -
@Tago-Mago yeah.. I think actually with 4xl all would be more to my preferences.. except the shoulders would get too large...
-
@Tobi I'm with you on the sleeve length here. body length is fine, but the sleeves will shorten as the creases will definitely settle.
the one i got used from a previous run has the sleeve length borderline short, with the sleeves of a flannel partially sticking out underneath.
it's the nature of the beast, i'd say - the od process shrinks the jacket, but much more in length than in width. -
Thank you all. I'm afraid this will be the first IH item ever I return (not even sure how to do this, since the outer plastic bag from UPS has not survived the unpacking). The jacket is a beauty, but I will not wear it enough if the fit is not 100% for me.
-
@Tobi it's a tricky to size jacket. The one I sold was a grail piece for me but when I found other jackets that fit much better, the dimensions that weren't really working out for me starter to bother me more and more. Maybe a future run will have the right measurements for you

@Tobi I think the jacket looks perfect. It depends on what you like though. I personally like my trucker jackets to fit slim and hit at the waist or close to. I also don't like to wear bulky clothing underneath. If I want to layer, I layer a parka over the trucker. That's just what I prefer. This one runs pretty long in the torso, even longer than the other modified type iii's I've noticed. I was just in a similar situation with these jackets. I decided to size down because the body length was just too much. I was concerned with sleeve length as well because they hit right at the wrist and I think that's perfect, but was concerned about the creasing and it riding up. The IH crew assured me the sleeves would not come up much at all especially when the jacket wears in. The bit of natural stretching/relaxing offsets the creasing in the sleeves. Time will tell. I really like how mine is fitting now.

@Tobi I concur, we've been doing this long enough to know that feeling when the fit is right. I think the XXXXL will get you there. We can talk ourselves into settling with tshirts only and unbuttoned, but the better choice is only a return. Look forward to seeing the new fit! This fabric is incredible.

I've been sitting on the sidelines for awhile as I bought both the Self Edge / Iron Heart collaboration as well as the 526 LOD. Additionally, my plan was to get the original "Lefty" in indigo as I've wanted one for years. With all that being said, the 526 LOD seemed to have chosen me, as it's just about perfect in what I'm looking for and what I hope to get many miles out of. No disrespect to the other jackets, especially the "Lefty", but I know the LOD is ready for concerts as well as skateboarding with my son (we do longboarding as well as surfskating). Fall is just around the corner, and this special piece of armor that is already forming itself to my body by just wearing it around the house during sweltering summer days outside seems ready to rock and roll. Not sure if this adds to the commentary, but just wanted to chime in anyway. Smoke em if you got em!!
