I know this doesn’t help…I have a few different type III’s in layering and trim sizes. You need to decide first how you’re going to wear it. Factors such as climate, style, and comfort are all very important. Warm climate where I would wear a t-shirt all of the time and I would go trim. Going to wear it over flannels and hoodies and I would go for a little bigger.
I have different sizes because as I have four very distinct seasons and like to wear everything from smart (trim) to cosy (oversized). It really depends on how you want to wear it.
If you are only going to have one jacket, make it count and pick the one that matches you and your style.
As a side note: you probably aren’t going to own just one over time…I tried and failed miserably

@goosehd Lol thats true I will definitely be buying another jacket again. In your opinion which one fits me best?
-
@pechelman which size did you choose?
-
@Goz Not going to lie and say it’s a tough choice. Over the t-shirt and definitely the first jacket. Trim and very smart!! Over the hoodie and I would pick the second jacket.
Both look very good on you. The areas I always am looking for are where the shoulder seams line to your shoulder, the chest, and the overall length. Shoulders look good on both jackets, chest is a toss up depending on what you’re wearing underneath (t-shirt vs. hoodie), and length is good on both.
You’ve got the perfect build for the type III and either of them would be a keeper in my opinion.

@goosehd Thank you I definitely appreciate and respect your opinion. You have great style and lnow how clothes should fit properly.

@Goz you can’t go wrong with either one, but I think if it were me the bigger one would get more use. Comfort and versatility. It still looks great with just a tee. Not sloppy or anything.
+1

@sabergirl Thank you I appreciate your advice. The bigger size feels a bit more comfortable especially when layering. Your right I definitely would wear it more. Its funny how just a inch difference in measurements btwn the 2 jackets can change the appearance on how it fits and looks on a person.

@Goz I think I'm in the same physical size dilemma as you where I can fit in an XL and L...I went with the 526J-142 in XL but looking for a different variant in L now. Lol

@j6550 I feel your pain I'm still second guessing my choice, but I will say this if your other Type 3 is a XL I'd go with size Large with the OD you can use the other jacket when u want to wear a hoodie or thick flannel under it and the OD with t-shirts
-
@Goz I like the way you think

Went hiking a few miles in the LHT today. Temps from 70-75° of pretty humid. Had a thin merino layer(cool not hot). It drizzled quite a bit and I was a little warm but it was fun feeling like I was breaking it in a little.
