So I got the new car some ceramic coating and front window tints to match the rears
Also somehow have managed to slip these past the wife and they will be here soon only in black rather than silver along with a set of lowering springs and an led tail light and interior light kit
And it’s only done 1600km now
-
@Brian O.Z.? or are you getting just the regular bob Jane rims..
would recommend getting the front PPF'd. never used to believe in it but my Mazda back in perth has picked up a lot stone chips and comparing it to my ducati in singapore, it's world's apart..
1600 in aus is just a couple day's drive no?
-
Compomotive wheels out of the uk, been around since I was a kid and have a good rally pedigree
Might get the whole thing ppf’d when funds allow it’s already been expensive in the first 2 weeks of ownership with the tinting ceramic wheels springs light kit and the fuel bill
Got to do 2 interstate business trips this month also so that’s more expense that has popped up almost unexpectedly but are needed to grow and build
-
@Brian had a look at them, and they look good. Seems like the do a lot of 4 stud wheels.
Yeah ppf is definitely expensive. So far had the Ducati and the X1 ppf’d. Time will tell if they’re worth it.
Interstate to vic or wa? Did melbs, Adelaide syd round trip many years back and it was decent but I can imagine doing it frequently can be a chore
-
@louisbosco
Sydney Darwin and now Townsville from today’s email correspondence all flights so no driving luckily -
@Brian oh that's mad!! glad you're travelling by plane now. did Adelaide to Sydney once and while it was nice to do it for the experience, I wouldn't do it without a good reason!
-
@Brian how are you finding the i20N? I'm looking at getting something new in the near future. I saw one whilst browsing the Inster, and it's a similar size to my Fiesta.
Incidentally, Hyundai have just announced the i20N's big brother, the Ioniq 6N. It sounds fun.
@louisbosco I've driven from Benalla (about two and a half hours along the Hume Highway from Melbourne) to Sydney twice this year, and across to Adelaide twice last year. I wouldn't rate either trip as being particularly fun.

Get ready to buy. Starts at 2pm BST (I think)
-
@Graeme I think seeing the curvature of the earth driving somewhere near Wagga was very pleasing. still want to do the nullabor one day..
-
@Graeme I’m really enjoying it, it’s got good power for its size, suspension is on the firm side however a recent drive to the barossa almost had my head hit the roof due to a bump in the road, would say the fuel efficiency isn’t fantastic but I put that down to driving style more than anything, and manual gearbox only which suits me but the wife can’t drive it
-
@Brian thanks. As an expat Brit who learnt to drive in the nineties, I'm more comfortable with manual gearboxes than automatics, so that side wouldn't be an issue.
The official extra-urban fuel consumption of the i20N is about the same as my Fiesta. (I get around 6.5 l/100 km on the freeway.) Obviously, Hyundai's test driver is a nun!
I'm wanting to look at the JCW Mini Cooper EV, and that reportedly has equally firm suspension. It costs a whole lot more too, though.
@louisbosco I don't recall seeing the curvature of the earth when I was in Wagga a few months ago, but I'm struck by how empty the bottom end of New South Wales is. There are very few towns and people between Albury and Gundagai along the Hume Highway, and I saw signs that the next McDonald's was 80 km away! (That's not necessarily a bad thing!)

Same same growing up learning to drive in a metro then had Renault 5’s Citroen saxos, golf’s, even a Vauxhall nova Peugeot 205
So the smaller quick fwd hatches are quite close to my heart
I think I’m getting about 8/100 but that’s all been urban driving all in the sportiest mode the car can do only done 1 longer trip so far in it and that was only a 220km round trip so not even that far really.
