Delivery day. I've been diving into the world of loopwheel tees, including a used merz b from this forum, and have read enough good things here to go big on these shirts with their half off sale.

First impressions... The super heavy shirts are much softer out of the box than the iron heart 1600 and 1501. Substantial but comfortable while the iron hearts have to be broken in. These tend to hug the body a little more than the iron heart.

Perhaps fit pics another time...started but the mirror needs to be cleaned.

Today I got my first t shirt from merz b schwanen. It's a 214, relaxed fit xxl, loopwheeled T-SHIRT, 8,6OZ.
To my height 190 cm and weight of 100 kg is very good cut and shape.
I am very happy with the product and i am ordering certainly a lot more

@Jbailla2 all great addition’s! Me personally also felt that the nature CW was softer then the 11oz IH tee but my white one on the other hand is more sturdy and harsh. Jealous on your tan colorway.. almost sold out everywhere in the EU.

I've been on the loopwheel bandwagon recently trying to get my hands on various brands to compare them. I recently contacted Merz B's customer service for clarity on their shirt weights based on their FAQ, copied below, so that I can compare to other brands.

"What does the weight in the product description mean?
Fabric weight is measured per m² of fabric. For example, with a weight of 200 grams (7,1oz) per m², this means that a 1 meter wide and 1 meter long piece of fabric weighs 200 grams (7,1oz). This is a good way to estimate wether the textile is lighter or heavier. "

In short, I was told that their advertised grams are actually GSM and their ounces aren't accurate. They were going to make the revisions on their website.

Their advertised heaviest loopwheel is 11.21 oz vs 13.4, and their 214/215 t shirt that has been really popular from the tv show the bear is 7.2 oz vs 8.6. Doesn't change anything about the quality, though, and my recent acquisitions have been the first in my rotation since I got them.I'm curious if they will ditch the "world's heaviest loopwheel" marketing, though. I just got a 12.5 oz loopwheel from deluxeware which seems to take that title.

                  Examples in their reply:
"346 MEN'S LOOPWHEELED SWEATSHIRT > 340grams per square meter > 10,03 ounce per square yard

                  214 MEN'S LOOPWHEELED T-SHIRT > 245grams per square meter > 7,22 ounce per square yard

                  2S14 MEN'S LOOPWHEELED T-SHIRT HEAVY > 380grams per square meter > 11,21 ounce per square yard"

Looking for some insight. I previously had a Merz B 214 shirt in Large which I bought about 3 years ago. Recently I had a laundry mishap and gave my large some bleach discoloration. I anyway needed a size up so bought an XL.

The XL came and has been worn and washed a couple of times. The collar on this one seems to want to separate and peak from my neck. It’s really bothering me. Do you think I’m being too nit picky or am I justified in contacting them? My large from a few years ago doesn’t do this.

I think some t shirts are just cut that way. I've got a few (not Merz) that do it and it bugs me too. They don't sit great under jackets either.

I prefer to try t shirts on before buying to avoid it.

I've been eyeing some of their shirt, both their heavyweight and 2-thread styles. How do you typically find the fit of these shirts? Is it as advertised? Or do you tend to size up or down?

I'm a medium in most mass-produced shirts and tend to go with a L or XL depending on the particular UHF from Iron Heart.

@Bobcat-Sig I think their published measurements are generally ok. You may find you need a different size depending on the cut. I’m a L in their heavyweight tees but I often need XL in their lighter weight offerings.

I wish Merz pre washed their tees, and at their price point I really can’t see why they’re not. The amount of shrink I got on my 215s is crazy, I spent nearly £300 on 3 tees last year and not a single one is wearable anymore. My XLs ended up closer to the measurements of Smalls, over a years wear and wash I lost 2.5 inches P2P and 3 inches in length. All washed at 40C or lower, never tumble dried. I’d deliberately sized to cover the 1.5 inch shrink in length that Merz plainly states, but got so much more in all directions.

I’m totally happy paying for a premium product (hello Iron Heart), but it sucks when said product lacks the stability to be used and washed like an actual garment should.

@jerkules interesting and definitely annoying! I don’t have any 215s but I haven’t experienced shrinkage issues with other Merz products (I even tried and failed to shrink a couple of 207s where I stupidly went with the retailer’s measurements rather than the official ones). The only washing issue I’ve had is extreme arm twist on ls 1950s. 2S14/2S18 are very stable in my experience.

I have some 215 and I also had to size up. Normally I am in between M and L but for the 215 I had to choose 7/XL. The salesperson told me it‘s best to try on the T-shirt since the sizes can differ depending on the style and cut. But the shrinkage is not to underestimate. Now the shirt fits like a L size now.

@jerkules Agreed. Had a couple of weights - both shrunk after hand washing (not ideal for a white T). Don't seem to like being stretched into shape which I would normally do - seem to lose shape. Urban Lad said similar on You Tube. Sticking to Wonderlooper / IH / Samurai / etc for now.

@ARNC yup I really like the 2S14 I have and the shrinkage on that wasn’t too bad. The 50s is the same, but I feel it does lose its shape due to the very lightweight fabric.

I probably should’ve gone up and extra size in the 215, but even then I think it’d be too small. It’s a shame as I really like the fabric and construction.

I really like the IH 7.5oz tees but would like some unprinted versions. I’ve never tried the 6.5oz so should try some time. I love the 1600 but find the arms a bit tight - would prefer if they didn’t have the sleeve ribbing. 3sixteen tees have a great fit for me but the sleeve is too short and I find the seems can chafe under arm…

I like the look of samurai, think I might give them a go next.
