Seems others have experienced some string/thread pulls so I am sharing my experience. Only wore this a couple of times total. Last time I wore this under my rain jacket while walking around town. When I took my jacket off, I noticed some thread pulls. Based off where the thread pulls happened I know it wasn't from snagging on a zipper or anything super rough. There was a seam on the inside of the rain jacket in the same area that was slightly rough. Pretty surprising that it would cause this kind of damage though so I am not totally sure what happened.

@Lanep2 Its unfortunate that I've had about 10 spots where the thread pulls up but not this large. I wonder if a wash and warm dry would "reset" the fabric but it might be worth a shot.

@Lanep2 this does look like a large area of fabric fraying, do you mind sending me a picture of the inside of the jacket you were wearing? We can then pass all of the information to Japan to comment

@AdamC sure thing! Here's a couple pics. The area inside the green circle is the part of the jacket that must have been rubbing up against the shirt while I was walking. 7e3cf4e8-155a-4620-a2e2-4525ad01b7ba.jpeg 8f668498-fc24-4870-b22d-79bd058c4a77.jpeg

@Lanep2 the response from Haraki san was what I expected in terms of this being a very delicate fabric. The nature of double gauze with 2 layers of cotton sewn together with tiny stitches, is to be a very breathable fabric, worn as a top layer or single piece. Due to the very open weave of the fabric, which you can easily see, it is of course prone to fraying with friction, non-delicate washing (with coarser fabrics) and snagging. In this instance, the edges of the coarse fabric in your jacket have easily aggravated the open weave.

Try ironing the shirt with a lot of steam on the cotton setting (2 dots maximum and recommend putting a non dyed/coloured cloth/fabric between the iron and the fabric to be safe) to see if that settles down those stitches, though it looks like quite badly aggravated.

Hey @AdamC, wow thanks for doing all that. That makes a lot of sense. I really appreciate the advice from the legend himself.

Hopefully others can see this so they don’t do the same thing I did. I’m still glad I made the purchase and will continue supporting IH! Cheers! 🍻

(Saying this in the least combative way possible) they should replace it since they didn't have a warning not to wear it with anything else.
