IHSH-417-IND - 5oz Double Gauze Short Sleeved Work Shirt - Indigo
-
Just got mine today! Super soft and excited to rock it all Summer long. Curious about shrinkage with this material... These came out longer than many of my short sleeve button downs, and wondering if even a cold wash will take some off the length? Product page doesn't mention and pre-washing or rinsing. @Alex any guidance?
UPDATE:
A luke warm soak in the tub with woolite dark brought the length up .25”, and actually didn’t effect any other measurements oddly enough. Little to no color loss until the water at all. Will wear with double cuffed sleeves for a while this summer and maybe try a light tumble dry down the road to see if I can get it to tighten up a bit more -

Anyone else had any string/thread pulls? Worn the shirt three or four times and already seeing a few creep up. Not a huge deal but worried more about long term. Possible it is just me. Anyone have suggestions on how to deal with them. Obviously I know cutting is a poor choice.
-
@jfk1117 I had a super long string where it caught on something and I cut it. Didn’t seem to effect any thing and I can’t see where it was anymore.
-
@ZackB thanks. I may follow up with you in a month before I follow suit. Thanks for being the trend setter!

Seems others have experienced some string/thread pulls so I am sharing my experience. Only wore this a couple of times total. Last time I wore this under my rain jacket while walking around town. When I took my jacket off, I noticed some thread pulls. Based off where the thread pulls happened I know it wasn't from snagging on a zipper or anything super rough. There was a seam on the inside of the rain jacket in the same area that was slightly rough. Pretty surprising that it would cause this kind of damage though so I am not totally sure what happened.

@Lanep2 Its unfortunate that I've had about 10 spots where the thread pulls up but not this large. I wonder if a wash and warm dry would "reset" the fabric but it might be worth a shot.

@ZackB Those deck short are

@AdamC sure thing! Here's a couple pics. The area inside the green circle is the part of the jacket that must have been rubbing up against the shirt while I was walking.

@Lanep2 the response from Haraki san was what I expected in terms of this being a very delicate fabric. The nature of double gauze with 2 layers of cotton sewn together with tiny stitches, is to be a very breathable fabric, worn as a top layer or single piece. Due to the very open weave of the fabric, which you can easily see, it is of course prone to fraying with friction, non-delicate washing (with coarser fabrics) and snagging. In this instance, the edges of the coarse fabric in your jacket have easily aggravated the open weave.
Try ironing the shirt with a lot of steam on the cotton setting (2 dots maximum and recommend putting a non dyed/coloured cloth/fabric between the iron and the fabric to be safe) to see if that settles down those stitches, though it looks like quite badly aggravated.

Hey @AdamC, wow thanks for doing all that. That makes a lot of sense. I really appreciate the advice from the legend himself.
Hopefully others can see this so they don’t do the same thing I did. I’m still glad I made the purchase and will continue supporting IH! Cheers!

(Saying this in the least combative way possible) they should replace it since they didn't have a warning not to wear it with anything else.

Love this shirt.
