Was refreshing the page every five seconds 15 minutes before the drop. Then a work thing forced me off the computer and I was back 15 minutes after the drop and I was afraid that I missed the opportunity, but there they were. Placed an order and can’t wait to get them and try them on.

Is it advised to soak them before I start wearing them?

@Chillberg, yes it is advised to give them a hot soak and get some of the shrinkage out. Is it 100% necessary?.probably not but recommended

@Chillberg. I am not that obsessed to take the temperature of the water but I fill the bathtub with hot water only and let them soak for an hour.

@yannis This is what I plan on doing with these as soon as I get them, hopefully it's a nice day here in Scotland and I can hang them outside to dry too.

Àlso some members put them in the washing machine after the hot soak so insure all the shrinkage is out. Whatever you do you can't go wrong. Just don't put them in a dryer. Let them air dry outside.

Quick fit check. These are my first IH XHR. I went for a 36, since I got a 634-142 in 36 and I like the fit of those.

I like how these fit right out of the box, but I’m a little concerned because of shrinkage. At the moment I can lift my knee to about parallel. But I got rather big thighs and butt and worry that the XHR will be too restrictive after an initial soak/wash.

Can anyone share any insights about potential shrinkage - and stretch - of the thighs and top block.

I am not too keen to size up. The waist feels comfortable, I can sit and squat without relevant discomfort. I guess, a 38 would be far too wide in the waist.

Soaking is not mendatory but recommended. There are plenty people who wear them without soaking them. If you decide on a hot soak thr waist will come in about 1 inch max, more likely 0.5 and stretch back to the original measurement within a couple of wears. Whatever shrinkage you will get in the inseam it will not come back. Usually that is about an inch or so. The thigh may shrink 0.5 or less , mine was 0.3 and came back with wear the pressure.

@yannis Thank you for your response. That’s less shrinkage on the thigh than I feared. Especially if there is a realistic chance that it will stretch back. I assume yours don't feel noticeably tighter now than at the beginning?

I read about the inseam and waist. Fortunately the inseam is long enough and I am confident that the waist won’t be an issue. But as the fabric on the thigh and waistband are rotated 90 degrees to each other, I wasn't sure how the thigh would behave.

@Krigga. Every pair that i have gets tighter when it hits water but they go back to how they were after a couple of days of wear. I think you will be just fine. Give them a soak if you like and they will be back to the way they fit now in a couple of day. Having said that soaking is not necessary. I have done it both ways with XHS and there was no difference in the long run. Some people are concerned with creases shifting after washing but mine when back to the same place. Just enjoy them man and wear the hell out of them. The rest is details that do not matter as much as you may think.

@Krigga I got mine on Friday and just gave them a "warm soak" yesterday, there wasn't much shrinkage but I didn't measure, the waist shrunk a little but that's all I've noticed... Now it's Sunday and the waist has definitely stretched back out and is fine. I've read online that giving them a once wash/soak helps get rid of all the starch and dust/dirt from the mills and also helps tighten and strengthen the stitching on the jeans and help prevent future blowouts and issues in the future.

Up to you man, I love these and they're all I'm gonna wear for awhile
