Loose threading. Don't want that reinforced piece on the inside of the pocket to come loose...

Hand Stitched and all better…

I generally give a first hotsoak with a piece of wood  for minimal shrinkage at the waist. I'm not sure if it is the right way but it works just fine with my Samurai.

with wood? like a 2x4? just curious never heard of this.

Tinman: the wood-method is very simple, really… Just measure a plank of some kind right to your waistsize, place it in the waist, place the jeans in the tub. Prevents it from shrinking more than intended.
