DHL to pause shipping to US for transactions over $800
-
@Brandrea +1 from me on this!! Super fast shipping, duties covered, couldn't ask for more!
-
@Brandrea for something over $800 as well?

@jfk1117 Canada’s de minimis is $20 CAD. Almost everything we purchase has taxes and duties applied.
Canada responded to the US tariffs by implementing counter tariffs which has made things worse for Canadian consumers buying goods originating from the US.
This is not the same as it would be for US customers buying goods from Canada. I do not know how US customers are currently being affected.
Edit correction: “Under CUSMA, Canada has agreed to maintain a de minimis threshold of at least CAD$150.00 for customs duties, and CAD$40.00 for taxes, at the time or point of importation of goods shipped by courier from the United States or Mexico. There are otherwise no changes to Canada’s existing de minimis framework. Accordingly, postal shipments from the U.S. or Mexico, as well as any courier or postal shipments from any other country, will continue to have a customs duty and tax remission threshold value of up to CAD$20.00. Please note that the new thresholds will apply as of the date the CUSMA enters into force and, for greater clarity, time of importation means the time of release.” - taken from CBSA

Heck @goosehd, I send a pair of used jeans to a friend in Canada about a year ago and he called me to tell me he had to pay some kind of tax. I was shocked!
-
@goosehd thanks. Yea I’m most curious of someone US based going over the de minimus of $800 from ihuk and how / if they were impacted.
We have never had to deal with it much in the US. I’ve only paid once in my entire life across clothing / furniture etc. so very curious as a big buck is on the horizon for me.

Maybe I will just end up being the guinea pig lol.
-
@Giles I prefer left

I had an Aero jacket received(USA) a few months ago and paid $93 to DHL. The duty was around $40 (item cost1,075£)the rest was DHL fees. I have a cheaper Simmons Bilt(875£) set to be delivered in June mtl so I'll have that to compare.

@jfk1117 in one instance it was a $400 shirt. I sized up in the 367 mock twill. It’s been an expensive learning curve, but I think I’ve hit my IH sizing down now
