          100% @mclaincausey!

He must have learned a lot at Merc and under Toto.

Great that he has his "own" shop now.

I hope Alex does okay in....2nd seat.

Did you have special paddock tickets?

What's Singapore like to watch it live?

@Bridger nah this was the year I only had walkabout tickets. there's a place where you can go to wait for the drivers and team to arrive and enter the paddock. caught and took photos with a few drivers and karun chandhok as well.

the singapore gp is worth the experience at least once. night race, you could do walkabout tickets (cheapest option) or be at one of the stands with a guaranteed seat. you can also choose if you wanna go for either of the 3 days or for all 3 days, which is pretty flexible. but price wise, Suzuka will be my best pick.

heading there in a month for the GP

Have you been to Suzuka before @louisbosco? I have been thinking about taking my dad next year and combining it with the cherry blossoms for my mum.

Where did you buy tickets and where are you staying?

I think the Japanese fans will be awesome.

@Bridger yeah I have, but in 2023, that race was in September. This year will be my first in april. The Japanese fans are amazing and the most expressive when it comes to showing their support.

Bad thing about the clash with cherry blossom is that the prices for hotels and stuff tend to be sky high in Tokyo and major cities.

That said, we’re staying in Nagoya again for the F1. And heading back to Tokyo for a week after. It will take about an hour to get to the circuit. The small town near the circuit have accomodation too but they get booked out a year in advanced by teams and media and could be hard to find availability.

If you wanna know more, do message me. I can share more info

@Bridger you can get tickets from F1’s website or the Japanese site for Suzuka circuit

                      https://ticket.mobilitystation.jp/

They do mention you need a Japanese address, although I didn’t have issues this year. I have my Japanese mate on standby when I book tickets just to be safe.

In 2023 when I booked, the physical tickets were sent to her mom’s place and we picked them up on the way down to Nagoya from Kobe. But seems like this year they’re going digital, which is a bummer if you’re one of those that like memorabilia.

2023 I sat on the S curves, which was about 48,000 jpy. This year we wanted the high stands in section B over looking turns 1 and 2 but that was sold out pretty quick. So we’re at the end of the start finish straight just before turn 1 and 2 this year. This ones cost about 79,000jpy. New location, so excited to see what’s it like.

He was a handful last year too, and I would contend that if McLaren had managed the two drivers better, Lando could have won the drivers championship.

Ignoring Lando's errors last season, which cost him dearly, I think that in all probability when Mark Webber was negotiating Oscars contract, he asked that Lando should not be favoured. Zak probably agreed thinking that there was no way Oscar would be so competitive against Lando in his first year with them.

Ultimately Zak had to do something, but it was too late by then. I'd love to know what Mark got in return.

Interesting thoughts @Giles - I can see Webber thinking that far ahead.

I also thought it was noteworthy in the latest Drive to Survive that Horner said he would take Oscar over Norris if he had to choose a McLaren driver. I get that. Both Max and Oscar are robots - cold calculating machines. While not a romantic pairing, they could be dominating.

@Giles from what I can tell Piastri‘s extension has him with McLaren until the end of 2028 and Lando‘s contract will be up a year earlier. Maybe that’s part of Mark Webber's demands

Sounds good in theory. However, I suspect Oscar, like Max (and most drivers) don't have the patience to wait around watching someone else win.

Seeing all the retirements from last season is a good reminder that you have to make hay while the sun shines. When you lose the balls to send it (aka Danny Ric), you lose your seat.

Yeah OP isn’t going to want to wait but Lando has a pace advantage right now more often than not and he should win and be prioritized sensibly. He has earned that right with his tenure at McLaren and Piastri has a terrific seat even as a #2 in the fastest car on the grid. He was rescued from Alpine so he has every reason to at least try to be patient.
